I kind of want to try EQ2 out, but I have this weird feeling that it is going to be a lot like SWG.

So, I am going to wait until it gets released and see what the general player feedback is before I plunk my money down.

I'll probably try WoW and EQ2 both. I'm getting itchy for a new game and haven't found anything fun in a while. I'm at the point in EQ where I'm starting to grind a bit and cutting back my time so I don't burn out on it.

A different mmorpg would be refreshing at this point.

I will not be playing WoW. I am undecided about EQ2. If Patrician and company start playing EQ2 and start up a guild I will probably start a character under an alias to make things as miserable as possible for them.

The sad part is that I don't think anyone thinks you're joking.

So petty.

While I have an active account in EQ still, my wife and I primarily play City of Heroes until WoW and EQ2 come out. I love CoH for the lack of time sink and non-camping. However, I really miss the fantasy theme so I am really looking forward to diving into WoW's open beta (anytime now). I plan on playing a Dwarven Paladin and a Gnome Rogue in WoW.

We have pre-ordered one copy of WoW and 2 copies of EQ2. From what I've read on both games' msg boards, it looks like EQ2 is more time-consuming where WoW is geared for the casual gamer. My wife is leaning towards EQ2, but that could change if the gameplay is more time-consuming as I just mentioned.

It may be a while before we buy EQ2 anyhoo, as we are going to have to buy 2 new computers to be able to handle the EQ2 system requirements (my pc is a 1 gig processor with an Nvidia GEForce2 video graphics card and my wife uses our laptop (2 gig processor with GeForce4 video graphics (pretty sure it cannot be upgraded, thus having to buy another desktop for her). And yes, I have looked at just upgrading the specific parts for my desktop, and it's looking to be less expensive to simply buy a new pc altogether. I'll just use my current pc as a web server or something.

Fortunately, we should be fine for playing WoW. After she gets a chance at playing WoW during open beta, maybe she will want to pre-order another copy of WoW.

I'm all for getting a guild together from the regulars here in either game (depending on which one we can all agree on and which game we are having the most fun with).

Until the open beta starts for WoW, I'll continue to get that lovely tingly sensation of gentle breezes blowing through my spandex in CoH...

I was in Lineage 2's open beta - I didn't care for the game mechanics, but I do think it was the nicest looking mmorpg out there. Stunningly beautiful graphics. Still, I prefer PvE over PvP.

I'll play whatever Nexa wants and demand to lead a group of arrogant, lazy, but well educated people who simply can't follow directions or ever show up on time.

Just like the old days.

Promise? You'd have to give up poker for perhaps hours at a time!

I'd be up for that as long as noone expects me to be particularly competant, knows that I have an early bedtime, and that I'm distracted by shiney objects.

Looks like I'll be playing some over Thanksgiving weekend. I hadn't realized how early the release dates are.

I plan on playing both EQ2 and WoW, just because I have to. I can't commit to full time raiding, at least at first, but I'd love to hang out with some or all of you guys and gals when I can.

I don't know much at all about WoW, EQ2, etc. When they do come out, though, I'll probably hear about em and make a decision then.
That's about where I'm at. I'm still playing EQ & haven't quite burned out on it yet.

I have read a bit about EQ2 and just can't decide if I like how they've set up the encounters.

WoW looks pretty fun so far. I agree about the cartoony look of the toons. Oh goodie, that ought to attract a lot of 12 year olds. The advantage of EQ is that if you really want to progress your toon, it requires a bit more patience and attention than the average 12 year old will be willing to give. Hopefully that will also be the case for WoW (sorry, kids).

WoW is incredibly easy. People were almost at the level cap in 3 days of the game's stress test opening.

I'll be buying EQ2 so I can follow you guys around and act like I'm cool.

Word on the street is that they made the leveling in the stress test much easier so people could test out the high level areas in the short span of 7 days. Only time will tell...

********* They gave free beta accounts to the top ten players on the stress test servers which one: made for a frenzy of leveling and two: got no one, I believe, above the high 30s. The cap at the time was 55 if I remember right. I read accounts of morans taking the week off from work and playing 20 hours straight at a time trying to stay in front.

I've played both. My suggestion is to get WoW right now. It is the better game at the moment. In 6 months, you will probably have maxed out WoW and will be looking for something else. That is also probably when EQ2 will actually be ready to play.

The cap isn't 45 anymore? I made that statement thinking it was.

Playing an EQ game starting on the ground floor and finding out that your class is useless six months later is the fun part!
