SEATTLE (AP) -- A man shot to death by police outside Qwest Field in the wee hours before the St. Louis Rams-Seattle Seahawks game has been identified by his family as a California lottery winner.
Relatives also disputed police accounts of the death of Rick Camat, 32, who was shot by an officer as dozens of people fled to avoid gunfire and fighting outside a Pioneer Square bar early Sunday.
Camat, one of 13 Starbucks employees in Los Angeles who split an $87 million jackpot in 2000, fired into the air to try to break up the fight and police never issued a warning before shooting him, said his brother, Brian Camat, 27, who was with him at the time.

Police heard a gunshot and saw the man with a gun. I believe that is reasonable enough evidence to assume the asshat may have been shooting at people.
I think the cop that shot him should sue his estate for emotional truama.

Here in Denmark a police officer shot and killed a young boy who was robbing a store with an older boy. The young boy turned around when the police yelled "Police, don't move!" and the officer shot him, killing him instantly.
Both boys were armed with... a knife.

If police believe an armed assailant will shoot at them or anyone else at any time, they can shoot him without warning.
Here in Los Angeles a couple years back, an elderly homeless woman was shot to death when she confronted 2 police officers with a ***** driver.
Both officers were on the opposite side of her grocery cart, but only one officer felt the need to shoot and kill the woman.
After further review the LAPD found this to be acceptable use of force.

Police have actually found that its easier to KILL the suspect than to deal with the legal battles when the person sues afterwards.
That, and there is barely standards at all for law enforcement. Somewhere on the internet (don't have time to find it) there is a video of this chick cop holding a gun on a suspect while the other cop cuffs him and she accidentally shoots it.
