Bush question.Follow

Ok I was wondering, did they or did they not prove that Bush skipped out on his national guard duties because my WH teacher (yeah the old guy i told you guys about last year) keeps on bashing Bush and I was just wondering if half the **** he says is true? Oh and he also said something like on Bush'es first debate he had some kinda square box on his back and my teacher claimed it was some sort of device to help him out when speaking.

It's complicated. Suffice to say if you had been Bush you'd have been humping through rice patties and not helping your dad's buddy run for congress while you were serving.

Okay, first off, never go by just the word of one person on something like this. Especially if they're "bashing". A teacher should be objective and promote education of all things, opinions included. They shouldn't push their own priorities, it's not their job or place. But they should help you form opinions.

If you want the truth on the matter, I suggest you do some research on your own. And by that I don't mean going to google and hitting just one site. You'll get a lot of bs from both sides, so take it with a grain of salt and look around. It sounds to me like your teacher is just a hard core democrat (I will keep my mouth shut on that lol) who refuses to give an inch to republicans and is right up there with Michael Moore in propoganda against Bush.

But seriously, form your OWN opinion based on facts, not lies and misguided truths.

just accept that anything *anyone* tells you will be biased. the very best you can say about bush is that his daddy got him a cushy job in the national guard and that he served, albiet very poorly and finding every loophole in the book to get him out of doing as much actual service as possible. at worst he completed failed to show up to massive portions.

while you can counter that kerry used his 3rd purple heart as a "loophole" to get out of 'nam, i can hardly blame anyone who honorably served (while risking their life in a very real way ever day) wanting to get out of combat early. very few (none?) wanted to be there (even if they "wanted" to serve their country).

as for the black box on bushes back... the guys a little crazy. if there were any evidence bush cheated on this first debate and it got released after pubbies made a big deal about a PEN then it would be the end of bush's hopes of winning.

Basically, here's what happened:

Bush didn't do ANY serious duty.

He was a partying college kid. His dad wanted to make sure he had a military record and the guard was as close as he could get the kid to do at the time.

As is typical of such situations, several people gave the kid preferential treatment. Good examples of this are that he stayed stateside instead of being shipped off to go fight and that he blew off an order to get a physical without any real reprecussions.

The kid probably didn't know any of this was preferential treatment. He probably thought it was normal treatment. That's usually the case.

It actually is pretty normal for that to happen. It's been going on as long as their have been armies. And while our country does not have nobility, it certainly has a ruling class. And there's not that much difference.

All of that said, your teacher is incompetent. He should know better than to fill his students full of his opinion on current political events in a history class. All it takes is one bad observation or prediction and he invalidates himself as an authority figure. What a moron.

I'm sure any man or woman who has served in the reserves during a time of war (inluding currently) will be very happy to know that thier service is not valued by you because they are not in the line of fire.

This idea that one form of service is "real" and another form is not is complete and utter bullshit to me.

He didn't mention "real," but rather "serious" duty.

Considering the wide spectrum of what constitutes military service, Bush's was not very serious. Defending the skies of Texas when there is a major over-seas conflict is "real" military service, sure, but it is also a bit silly.

That is so sad. To bad that site isn't nonpartisian, it would have a whole lot stronger impact otherwise.

See, the thing is, I'm something of a realist. That means even though I think Bush is the better of the two candidates I can still recognise the truth.

Truth: Bush didn't do any serious military duty.

Like it or lump it.

Yea, I've been looking for lists like this around the net, but this was one of the few that I found that had both democrats and republicans on it.

the bottom line right now is.........

who the hell cares if he doddged the draft and found some place to hide, then hid from that responsibility as well?

Kerry served, Bush and Cheney hid. end of story.

but if you are interested, there is no evidence to show he did not show up, and Bush has not provided any information to show he DID show up.

did not show up side:
flight priveliges revoked
missed medicals
cant find ANYONE who remembers him

cant prove he didnt side:
was getting a paycheck.

no conclusive evidence either way.

the ironic thing is bush ducked by goin guard, clinton flat out draft dodged and the same people who bash bush defended clinton.

that said it's even funnier that i'd vote for the one that didnt' serve in this case because the other guy both fluffed his record and played politics with it over 30 years ago.

read a transcript of kerry's speach in front of the senat in 71, he's an opportunistic liar who i think actualy hates the military.

i can never vote for such a man, so i'm voting for dwight eisenhower, we could certainly use such a man again

Bush served in the air national guard where he was training to be a fighter pilot, for you people on the left coast those are the fast metal like thingies floating in the air. In every year of service Bush obtained over the minimum amount of hours required. You have to remember that vietnam was winding down about this time so there wasn't a huge call for more fighter pilots so the exposure to live combat wasn't there, so Bush got leave to work on some politicians campaign, can't remember the name. Bush has made all his military records public.

Now Kerry on the other hand served ONLY 3 months in Vietnam. In those eventful three months he nominated himself for 3 purple hearts. We honestly don't know the extent of any of these alleged injuries because Kerry won't sign the release form allowing his medical records to be made public. Kerry was the only Swiftboat commander to serve for just 3 months. And immediately on returning to the states Kerry bashed his comrades in a senate hearing. He espoused heresay and lies never actually seeing any of the claims he was making.

Based on that who would you say served honourably?

"Draft dodging" is an independant action and alludes to a possible moral dillema concering military acts. Hiding behind daddy's political clout does not.

I can't blame the Bushes though, I wouldn't want to send my son away to a jungle hell. Dubbya is just the type of person that any foreign military grunt would want to plug.

I know this is a little off topic for this thread, but i don't care. When Kerry came back from Nam he basically said that he and the rest of the prople serving in Nam were a bunch of murderous barbarians. Now, that he is running for pres. he is calling himself and everyone else that served War heros. And BTW I heard that one of his purple hearts was the result of a paper cut, and another was for some other self- inflicted wound. I am probably wrong, but that is just what i heard.

People who hold the liberty of their country above their own life = Heroes.

War = Hell.

A self aware individual who is deprogramed, returns to society while dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and the social norms of culture, not the military = The majority of the soldiers that have killed for you and I.

One who felt that it was his duty to discribe the hell of war in light of the questionable circumstances in which it was being waged = John F. Kerry.
