Election 2004 Reuters/Zogby Daily Tracking Poll: President Bush Falls Back, While Senator Kerry Moves Ahead; Kerry, 47% - Bush, 44%; President Gaining Momentum Among Younger Voters (47%-38%), New Reuters/Zogby Poll Reveals

Are you kidding me? Young voters are leaning Republican? What the fucks wrong with kids today. They're so easily marketed to it's sickening. Have we finnaly completed the life long goal of advertisers and propagandists everywhere by having a generation of consumers completely blind to any sort of reality?

This is what comes of treating children like they are made of glass and "protecting" them from any sort of outside influence. Brain wasihng at it's pinnacle when young voters trend so amazingle far in the oppisite direction from where their self intrest lies.

Simply amazing.

I would have thought most young voters would lean towards Kerry, since they would usually be influenced by movies. Ex. Farenheit 9/11.

OMGZ!!! You're right. It's totally ridiculous that young adults today might actually want to make sure they have a future waiting for them when they get older, and a way to maybe make something of themselves beyond lead fry cook.

Silly kids today! Not buying into the self interest angle. Heck. The Democrats are practically bribing them to vote with lots of "candy" that should appeal to them! Wanna be a slacker? No problem! We'll give you money to hang out and go to school part time. Still don't want to work? No problem! Just declare yourself an artist, slap some crap together, and we'll see if we can shove some money your way. Still don't want to work? No problem! We'll make sure that it's easy to work an angle to get your government to support you at everyone else's expense.

You're right. With all that going for them with the Dems, why on earth would they actually be responsible and see through that BS? It's just unfair I say!...

Speaking of gullable people voting opposite their self intrest, enter the classic text book example.

I gotta watch it-- I'm getting awfully close to the magic 10k. You guys have to quit starting topics which are too interesting for me to avoid posting on, darn it!

Bush has made tracks with his "no draft" platform. Surprisingly-- to me at least --Kerry didn't even speak to the issue, something I'd have thought he would have been on the forefront of.

Oh well. He can always gain their trust again by taking the lead with the platform which advocates the total and complete legalization of marijuana-- and the first dime bag is on the gubbment!

That might be enough to even get Debalic off the couch and vote!
;)

Smash. I simply don't see how declaring the Democratic party as the choice of "self interest" for young, immature adults to be a ringing endorsement for that party.

Ever consider that some people actually do realize that the Republican party offers more in the long term then the "instant gratification" of the Dems?

Sure. Those people are known as "suckers" by members of both parties. I've heard GOP lobbyiests laugh and laugh about them. I remember back during the estate tax debate, I'd be out for dinner with the wife and we'd run into some lobbiest from the other side and they'd both share a good laugh about people with $500,000 in assets being concerned about the estate tax.

Yeah, T, that sounds good but I never got around to registering. I figure that's what happened to all the Dem-minded youth- we got too stoned to bother or care. Them straight-edge right-winger preppies all had their shit together.

I am kinda pissed about that. Apathy is not a great lifestyle.

Smash, I think you should come live in Canada. You could pick up a nice place in the BC interior, for a decent price. And we have the internet too, so you could continue your "career". Our conservatives are your liberals. You might enjoy it here.

Poker winnings are tax free, too.

Don't think I haven't thought about it. On the other hand, I'm not a big hockey fan, Canadian Football is silly and I don't want to have to listen to Bryan Adams songs to meet the Canadian Content requriement on my radio stations.

today we had a sub ask our math class who we would vote for were we 18. a vast majority (about 85% ) of the classroom said they'd vote bush. unfortunately for me i accidentally shouted out "you idiots!" and then i kind of hid. he then asked who was for kerry and only 3 kids, including me, out of a class of 40 said they would have. the remaining 3 were the angsty "lets rage against the machine. fight the man!" type kids who said nader. when questioned as to if they could name any of naders views on *anything* not one of them knew.

i live in San Bernadino county, which, granted is an overwhelmingly conservative part of california, but i would have thought that the kids wouldnt have been quite as brainwashed by their parents.

our highschool is holding a mock election. i fully expect bush to overwhelmingly win. kerry will get about 15% of the vote. nader 3. and i imagine not one kid will vote badnarik, or have even heard of them.

In addition, you can start using the line "This coming from a guy, who lives in a country that..." You might enjoy it.

You were in the military, maybe you can pick our military hardware for us, god knows, we don't know what we're doing.

This might really **** you off then Smash.

Proving again that no wacky Hollywood storyline is too bizarre to become legislation in California, Senator John Vasconcellos has introduced a bill to give children as young as 14 the right to vote.

I know it was a while ago, but if something like this were to go through, the vote would probably depend on which candidate likes to eat Captain Crunch.

FTFY

For some reason that one bothered me. Maybe because I had to read the damn thing three times before I understood what the hell the topic was.

Kids suck these days.

Yes, your right that is a stupid move on behalf of the Senator. Im 14, and I think it would be cool to get to vote, but I dont think other 14 year olds can't remember what they had for breakfast, much less who the candidates are.In my opinion, if something like that did happen they should have to pass a test that makes sure that the 14 year olds actually know whats going on instead of listening to there parents.

Man, it's getting to where I can't trust anyone UNDER 30.

THere's boud to be a backlash though whenthey've decided that they squandered their youngers years acting like Alex P. Keaton.

Youth is for skylarkings and misadventures not becoming a political pawn of your parents.

No childhood rebellion = future social problems.
