Oddly enough, I was playing golf yesterday with an older fellow whop looked like a cross between two actors, Danny Aiello and Ned Beatty. I couldn't remember the latter, just mumbling to myself "he was in Superman, right? I'm sure he was in Superman..."

Even though people may say that celebs fight for causes the way Reeves did just to benefit their own situation, I feel good about them nonetheless (like Michael J. Fox).

While you all seem to have great sympathies for this man, I agree with Maddox. While his foundation may have set the ball rolling on stem cell research and, in the future, might help countless people who live with paralasis, it was all just a selfish means to and end.

Not only that, but those Superman movies were teh suxx0r.

Of course it was. I said the same myself. But that doesn't change the fact that he did get the ball rolling and help make things like stem cell research into a household topic.

People usually don't get involved in things until it somehow affects them personally. A shame, but that doesn't make Reeves any worse of a person than you or I who probably haven't been lobbying Congress directly for funding either.

I just think it would suck to be an invalid, and I feel bad for him. He educated himself, did as much as his position and money would allow, and handled it with grace, which is more than I can say for a lot of folks.

I know Maddox was just trying to be oh-so-edgy and in your face since, well, that's what he does to make people come to his site, but...

What's really funny is that a certain reputable news service mistakenly slapped up an obit for Sharon Osbourne instead of Christopher Reeve in their haste to scoop the story. They fixed it within an hour or so.

Must be a bit creepy to read your own obit.

Creepier if you just finished watching the old movie "Ghost."

At that point, you just have to shart yourself.

Dave Swarbrick (Long time fiddle-player with 'Fairport Convention') was seriously in Hospital a few years ago, but The Daily Telegraph jumped the gun and published his obituary.

He made a full recovery, and now sells autographed obituaries to raise money for the hospital that saved him.

Joe Dimaggio's obit got scrolled across the bottom of the screen on national television, a few months before he croaked, I believe.
