That whole deal about the Bush Administration leaking the CIA info to the media is bad news.
What happened is that Cheney's office asked Joe Wilson a former US ambassador to investigate a report out of Niger that Saddam had tried to purchase yellow cake uranium.
Joe Wilson went out to Niger and investigated the documents and sources and found multiple wholes in the report such as poor translation from the original french, in the report it said something along the lines (I dont remember exact dates so im just using an example) Thursday Jan 23 1998 when the 23rd was a Sun, people who were involved on certain dates were shown to have been dead for years etc.
He came back and reported to Cheney's office that the claims were false. The Bush Administration though continued to cite the Yellow Cake Uranium in there case for war so Mr. Wilson went public and debunked the claim.
Not soon here after someone in Cheneys office leaked to reporters the fact that Joe Wilsons wife is an undercover CIA operative effectively ruining her career in the CIA and endangering all operations in which she was involved.

I just hate to see reporters like her hiding behind 'freedom of th press.' There's freedom of the press and then there's abuse. I want to find out who her source was. Methinks that is treason.

Without the protections of the 1st Amendment for the Press, we'd almost certainly be living in a fascist state. Sometimes they work for the cause of truth and justice and sometimes those same freedoms stand in the way. You have to take the good with the bad.
I'd think finding out who was Novak's source was and finding out who gave the okay for the leak would be far more important.
