I play FFXI. Don't start talkin **** yet EQ players. Now I do realize that FFXI community includes some dork *** kids, but please realize that many of us have been playing FF since the beginning of time, because it is THE FIRST RPG. Final Fantasy appeals to a broad audience, whereas EQ was developed mainly for people of college age or higher. I respect EQ for being THE FIRST MMORPG, and I may try it one day. We both play great games, the best so far. No need to hate each other. Oh, and you'll never see me make those (<^{[_]}^>) face things, because i don't know what they mean.

We actually have a few posters here that are FFXI players as well who we don't hate. Take trickybeck for example. He's funny, he contributes to threads, and he knows how to roll with the punches.

Most FFXI players that post here are the exact opposite, and therefore give you guys a bad name. Don't sweat it though, that's where all the other FFXI players go wrong.

Lavatory, just because you play FFXI does not make you an FFXI poster. As long as you don't post a bunch of stupid shit here, no one will bother you for it.

I play ffxi and I'll make fun of you solely because your avatar is the gayest thing I've ever seen. That face using parenthesis however, rocked my ***.

Has WoW gotten any better since phase3? It was a craptacular mess when I started playing it and ended up giving my account to a friend.

I got in at the begining of Phase three so I have nothing to compare it to but I like the game and they have updated a whole lot of content since I started. I can't imagine the game going gold before the end of this year but first quarter looks possible.

Okay, if FF wasn't the first RPG, it is (or was) definitely the definitive RPG standard for years. My avatar? Meh, i haven't had much time to put my real picture up yet, but I will one day.

First wide spread RPG, probably Ultima.

First MMORPG, Ultima Online, well before EQ. (But Shitty)

You guys know NOTHING of RPGs.

Rogue and Nethack were the first RPGs on the computer. They still kickass.

Though, mostly only geeks know about them.

Oh, and I play FFXI as well. Just ignore the FFXI poster comments. Don't be a worthless peice of ****, and they won't be aimed at you.

Thread from OoT wondering about oldest MMORPG

Rogue? As in the ASCII thing for the PC? I guess if you want to call that an RPG...

Really, and this topic's been brought up before, most computer "RPG"s aren't hardly. There's no more "role playing" involved in Final Fantasy (the non-MMORPG ones, naturally) than there is in Tomb Raider or Pac-Man. It's a fantasy genre puzzle game but there's nothing about it that requires actual RP. Running around with swords and fireballs and dragons and kings who say "Will you help us? [YES][SURE]" doesn't make something a role playing game.

Mostly only geeks played MOST of the original widespread RPGs.

Joph, to this day, Rogue, or at least it's successor Nethack, hold the most content, options, scenarios, etc of any RPG there is.

Which makes them wonderful fantasy genre puzzle/adventure games, but not roleplaying games.

Explain to me the roleplaying behind bumping your @ into a "D"? Would you call Gauntlet a roleplaying game? Is Doom a roleplaying game? Both are essentially the same game as Rogue.

Sir Laviont, if you want to get technical you'd know that the first "real" RPG was Dungeons and Dragons (I'm not sure if there were any others before then). Actually does anyone still play? God I loved that game...
