Apparently you got reamed because you don't understand rules. And you're not as valuable as you have convinced yourself that you are. If you had earned soem respect, then you wouldn't have been ratted out in the first place. What you earned was emnity. And I'm sure it WAS earned.

As a 'top performer,' let me tell you what it's like. I post from my desk. And if my boss walks in, I don't hide what I'm doing. I finish my post. I have that freedom because he knows I'm going to get the job done and get it done faster and better than anyone else he could replace me with. I talk to HIS boss on a first name basis. And I can tell either of them if something is bullshit and they'll listen.

My company also has rules about using the internet for personal reasons. I went to my boss and told him I need the time to think before finishing an analysis and he put it in writing that I have freedom to do so. That's called empowerment.

I just thought I'd highlight the difference for you. Top performer vs. my podmate doesn't like me so that's why I got in trouble.

I've heard blowjobs in the bathroom will get you to that kind of level. Whatever gets you to the top, I guess.

I told my boss I really don't give a ****. He's just on a power trip because this office manager position is so much better than the one he had at Taco John's previously. As far as getting ratted out, I'm surrounded by a bunch of "lifers" that have nothing better to do than ***** about how bad work sucks and backstab everyone else so they can try to get to the top.

I understand rules. I don't really care about most of them. If they really want to get rid of the top performer and ***** themselves over, fine with me. I'm pretty tired of busting my *** everyday for next to nothing anyway. I play by my rules. To quote "Life is my own, to live my own way."

For someone who apparently is the goldenboy of the company, they certainly are eager to can your a$$ for a little internet surfing. Are you sure that your **** don't stink? Because if you're making the company as profitable as you claim to be, you'd think they wouldn't care what you do as long as you keep pulling in the Big Bucks.

On the contrary, it seems to me that you've been shining it on, looking busy when the boss wanders around and the rest of the staff has to make up for your lackluster performance, hence the co-worker ratting you out to get you off your a$$ to do some w-o-r-k. You know, that stuff that pays the bills?

So, indeed, you may have earned your respect, but you certainly haven't earned their's.

I suggest not running your mouth on subjects you know little about. We process defaulted mortgages for reimbursement from HUD. What little we can get back from HUD is no where near enough to counter the salaries of everyone in my department. It's still a loss.
