How much would you pay for it?Follow

#1 Oct 02 2004 at 8:25 PM Rating: Good
Jamaican Blue Mountain Certified Coffee is supposedly one of the best coffee's in the world and is obviously only grown in one very small area of the world. Kona Extra Fancy (grown in Hawaii) is the same way. How much would you pay for a pound of each?

Recommended Retail Value of JBMC prior to Frances was $60+ and KEF is approximately $40+ a pound, would you pay that much? Have you paid that much? If you have ever tried either one, what did you think?

My personal opinion is that JBMC is one of the best coffees out there but I would not pay retail pricing for it.

Wow. Used to go to a coffee shop that sold it for 26$...I guess I got a good price.

I don't think I would find myself paying 60$+ for JMBC, when I enjoy Kona blend the same.

Edited to answer original question.

Then you may not have been getting Certified. I'm not saying it wasn't, but $26 is around the price I'm looking at wholesale, for selling at Christmas. I just had a friend get back from Jamaica and brought me a pound to sample, I'm trying to find a source in Jamaica so that I can sell it for a lower price.

It may have helped that the guy I used to by it from was married to a women straight out of Jamaica. But his shop was called Blue Mountain coffee.

If it was a pound of Jamaica's other famous export, I would easily pay $60/pound.

I wouldn't, but then I have a cupboard full of Cubita, which I find to be delicious.

People who want to impress their friends might pay $60.00 for a pound of coffee, or maybe men who are trying to impress a woman. It is a nice conversation piece.

I tried coffee once when I was 12 and again when I was 22. On neither occasion could I get past the first sip. A more vile, repulsive brew I cannot imagine. Even the smell of it will drive me out into the fresh air.

But, hey, if its what you like, knock yourself out, I wouldn't pay a cent for any kind of coffee.

I can think of nothing more heavenly than the scent and taste of fresh brewed coffee..

It can't be the ****** stuff though.

At sixty bucks a pound, that coffee better come with a steak dinner and a ********.

I guess I represent the faction who drinks typical cup of joe, calls a big cup of coffee a "large" instead of a "grande" and doesn't go for all that effeminate foam crap on top. Probably not your target audience.

We had a cupping (sampling of coffee) the other day with Kenya AA, Kona, Peruvian organic and Jamacain Blue Mountain using French Presses and the Jamaican Blue won 3 out 4 and the Kenya AA was the 4ths top coffee with Jamaican Blue taking second.

IMO Kenya AA is a bit dry for my tastes where as Jamaican Blue is a smooth sweet taste with low acidity.

Oh, sure. I'd take JB over Kenya, but Kenya's cheaper.

I appreciate a good cup of coffee, but no, I couldn't possibly justify spending that much on it. I just don't believe it can taste $50 better than our everyday coffee.

I thought the stuff covered in bat guano was really the best kind anyway. Smiley: drool2

I'm also an "average joe" joe drinker. But once I dated a guy who always had the JBM. I really could tell a difference, but I just can't see paying that much myself.

still got diapers to worry about, bleh

You have to try the JBM to truly appreciate the coffee there is a definite difference between Gas Station Coffee and JBM. The Bat Guano is a rare coffee, but not even I would drink that stuff.

I like coffee but I'd never pay that much. I'm a deli/gas station coffee drinker mostly, or Dunkin Donuts. If I have coffee at home, it's something like Maxwell House from a tin, or sometimes I get random bags of coffee beans.

dangit...yet ANOTHER "thing-one-must-do-to-get-a-chick". Does the list ever end?!?

personally i love coffee but can't drink it. makes me tired but too wired to go to sleep...which equates to me staring at my computer monitor at work for 8 hours..no good.

so i wouldn't really pay much for ANY coffee, but i've seen some whores i was tempted to drop a couple bills on. thank you self control!

I've only had BM a few times, but it was worth the money I paid. I'll get it every now and then, but not as what I usually drink.
