Oh man, I LOVE empanadas.

I have never had one before I went to taco bell. Don't know for sure if it is an "empenada" as the latino cuisne goes.

I have wanted to try empenada's but I am a very picky person when it comes to what I will eat, so I don't often stray beyond a couple dozen different meals. That includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert meals.

I used to do inspections for the health department while I was working my way thru grad school.
Taco Bell usually scored pretty good, but my cardinal rule in eating at resturaunts. Check the restroom if its dirty, run fast and far!

Out here in Los Angeles county resturants have to display a health department grade of A-F. Most chains pull of A's for the most part, the ones who have the most problem are the mom and pop chinese and mexican shops.

In the Los Angeles times they give a weekly listing of stores that had to close for any amount of time and why. I scan it religously to make sure I have not eaten at any of those places. I have only once eaten at a Arby's that was closed because of lack of potable water.

There is nothing wrong with the beef at Taco bell, except that it is half soya-bean. The grease from the beef gets soaked up by the bean and for the life of me, I can't tell the beef from the bean. Not one once of grease wasted, natures perfect food.

Actually the last few times I have gone in there the tacos have been dripping with grease. I haven't gone back since, it's all Taco Time for me now. Not sure if they are in the states.

I used to love the Santa Fe gorditas, but they don't have those anymore. I'm a sucker for corn and corn products.

They had Del Taco in Salt Lake too. I prefered Del Taco to Taco Time, but Taco Bell beats them both.

I love those caramel apple supposed to be empenada things, but the packaging really pisses me off. It's like twice as big as the actual pastry. distressing, very distressing.

I tend to usually get one of those and a half pound burrito especial. I figure it's pretty hard to fuck up/mercanize a burrito.

Given the choice I'll take real mexican food any day, but ya can't beat spending 2 dollars and some change and actually getting full.

I am much prefer Del Taco. How can you beat 3 tacos for 99cents on tuesdays. Also, they are now selling breakfast starting at 11pm, and since I don't get off work till then, and don't eat dinner til midnight, I get to have breakfast for dinner!

I actually know a place that cooks up Taco Bell meat. It's less than 10 miles from where I'm sitting. We rented them some freezer space in the past (they also do meat pizza toppings).

We had a couple of pallets of their Taco Bell taco meat for about 3 years. They didn't have them on their invetory records and it was easier to ignore them than to fix something in their record keeping system.

That's beside the point.

What I was going to say is that the meat is actually pretty decent before Taco Bell gets their hands on it. At least the stuff that came through here was. Their beef was pretty good, as far as pre-cooked ground beef goes. And their pepperoni was real good, too. Dominoes buys better pepperoni than Pizza Hut, by the way.
