Blame your fellow republicans for being lazy. Nobody's stopping them.

If more than half the voting population would actually vote then yeah.. Political apathy is a serious crisis in this country. No matter what side of the fence you belong to, or whether you're on the fence you still have to look at people's aversion to politics as a devastating blow to the democracy our founding fathers gave us. The only way a political system like ours will work is if people of genuine conviction and morality step up to make themselves heard. It's the fact that half the people who can be heard choose not to that frightens the most sensible among us. That somehow you judge your own viewpoints unworthy to act on... That's just a sad sad thing.

More like can't be bothered to, L. It's the thing which actually keeps the poor and disenfranchised poor and disenfranchised. Regardless what others may tell you, it's no one's fault but their own that things haven't changed for them.

A case could also be made that our political dichotomy has led to political apathy as well. After all, there would be no close split on elections if there truly was a clear choice.

Good thing our esteemed founding fathers didn't see it your way.

Why do you hate our founding fathers? Smiley: frown

I prefer the Robert A Heinlein apporach.

You are not allowed to vote unless you have fulfilled a term of federal service.

Absolutely.

Varus

What about denying the right to vote to anyone who uses questionable tactics to avoid paying the taxes they actually should be? Bet there'd be some people unhappy with that. :)
