Dark Tower VIIFollow

After only 20 friggin' years King's Dark Tower saga was finally completed with the publishing of the Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower.

I've personally loved the series although there was mild disapointment with #4 and #5.

Dark Tower #7, though, was a great tale, at least by King's standards.

I just have to warn any of you following the series--near the end King jumps in, first person, and warns us (the Dear Readers) that perhaps we shouldn't read any further, just to let imagination run. When that happens, I implore you to take him at his word, close the book, and enjoy the ride he gave us. Without any spoilers, take my word.

Just a warning.

They are just about to attack the breaker city. I think.

The first bookis in my top 10 "epic" books and an all time favorite for me. I stopped on book 4, I was so dissapointed I couldn't force myself to read anymore. Would it be worth rereading the first 3 and then reading the rest?

Git, you can probably pick it up where you left off.

Yes, the 4th book is the weakest book by far.

I have a copy I got a few weeks ago... signed by King and the illustrator. One of only 209 of Dark Tower VII books signed by King or that will be signed by King.

Pwnt.

With that said, I'm enjoying it, although I've been trying to find another copy of the book before I get any further so as not to harm this one; waiting to finish it isn't easy, but I can finally pick up a new, unsigned copy at the bookstore.

I also stopped at book 4. I guess one of these days I'll pick up the others and finish the series. Book four really did blow, lol

Yeah, book 4 kinda did me in, too. It made me finally cross his books off my list of things to pick up. That decision was a long time in the coming, but was definitely due by the time I came to it.

I read Dreamcatcher, but only because I was at the beachhouse and the weather turned ****** for a day. It didn't impress me. Other than that, I haven't touched a Stephen King book in years. Ewww.

Wasn't book 4 "Wizard and Glass"? I rather liked that one, my second favorite behind the first. Haven't read any past 4 yet, though. I really need to get around to it.

I finished this one last night (took a week to read).

Man I loved and hated this book at the same time. I must have went through every emotion there was reading this book (at one point <after two things happen pretty much consecutively> I almost threw the book across the room>).

A book that can do that to me, IMHO, is a very very well written book.

I kinda liked Dreamcatcher. Not his best, but it had some entertainment value.

My husband bought From a Buick 8 for me a couple of years ago. I was never able to finish that one. It just seemed like he was trying too hard in that book or something. And he failed.

I was always a rabid King fan, too. Now I just can't seem to be bothered. But if the general consensus is that the rest of the DT series is good, I may give it another shot.

Hahahaha

You buy Franklin Mint chess sets and those imitation gold double eagle coins too, I bet.

One of only 209...hahahaha.

Hey, Smash? Edumacate thyself.

King's publisher set up a special promotional deal- bookstores could set up a reading group to go through all of his Dark Tower books, and if they read through all of them and the story didn't leak (as in, people didn't know they were doing this to get him to come and sign books there) then he would go to that store and sign copies of Dark Tower VII.

Guess what? One store made it... as in, only one. Just Books, a bookstore in Greenwich, CT.

Guess where I got mine from?

Hey folks,

I just made it to the half way point in the book, just past the breakers. I truley hate it when a book makes me cry while I'm on lunch at work! Other than that yeah I think the series gets a lot better after book four. I figure this is one of kings last books. Kinda tieing up lose ends and such. Also has anyone heard the rumors about him doing this as a HBO series??

I want to add something I wrote tell me how bad it is.

Lost In the pages and the place that I used to know. Lost on my way from here to there, where ever there might be. Lost because I refused to look at the road ahead anymore. Lost because maybe I don't need to know where I'm going right now. Lost because soon the tower will fall and all this will just be another mildly amusing day dream that I'll forget upon waking... The King is lose among the peasants and cares not whether it be harm or foul, hes just looking for a reaction. Can you blame him? For the days have grown long and no man nor child can stand against the world as it rolls on.

Wanted to add this little diddy on.

As for the rest of this thread, Stevie King sucks as an author. Yeah, yeah, The Shining, Shawshank Redemption and all, but he writes so much crap that it negates anything good he produces. He's the John Grisham of horror. He's the Chuck Woolery of the macabre.
