Article

I admit that this is sad indeed but I feel that this woman lacks a great deal of common sense.

See, this would be Darwinism if the cause of the explosion were, say, piled up dirty diapers or a meth lab. Bad stove? Not Darwinism, just some badly burned kids.

What was your point, again?

Darwin waits, pensively, for somebody to actually die.

Yes, being white trash can be fatal.

I feel sorry for the kids though, it's not their fault their mother has the intelligence of a lemming.

No, I'd go stay in a hotel until it was fixed.

Some people don't have that option.

Was she warned that the gas could build up to levels that would explode if exposed to open flame? I dunno. The article doesn't say.

She was told that the stove wasn't connected properly. We can assume she was aware of a gas leak because she and the kids were leaving to stay in the aformentioned hotel until it was fixed. For some bizarre reason, on her way out, she lit up smoke...

If she had died, that would definately qualify as a darwin.

You would think she would be able to smell the gas. If it had leaked enough to do that much damage the smell would probably be overpowering. Once again I'm left wondering what the hell ever happened to common sense.

She's a smoker. She had no sense of smell to speak of. I imagine she was not told specifically not to smoke, but only to go stay somewhere else until it was fixed.

Okay, you all want to see horribly burned kids as some sort of pseudo-cool "darwinism", go for it. You'll pardon me if I don't join in with your japing guffaws.
