Not that I'll be attending, but Roy's Place in Gaithersburg, Maryland is great. 200+ kinds of sandwiches and a nice selection of beers.

OMG, Roy's Place is still in existence? I grew up in G-burg and had dinner there a few times with the family as a kid. Talk about a blast from the past. It would be a great place to meet up, but convincing those near Baltimore and No.Va. could be tricky.

Still...it...just...might...work! Or not. Any other suggestions for someplace convenient for those in the immediate area (Balt/DC/NoVA)?

Maybe once we have a location agreed upon, then we can figure out a date & time...

Glad ya found the east coast thread! I'm pro-Columbia as well, but will travel to NoVa, DC or Baltimore if need be for this boozefest.

Perhaps if people could chime in for desirable location and maximum distance willing to travel so we can start to get a count of those interested in meeting up.

I'll start a list here and edit it regularly to track those interested (from all locations)...

Smoggy - Prefer Columbia, open to NoVa, DC, Baltimore, Gaithersburg (for Roy's Place!)

Smash - sometime after his NH Kerry duties...DC/Balt/NoVa area(?) or Philly...

Danalog - Columbia or max. dist. of 2 hours

Invis - location? How far ya willing to travel?

Skeet - Alexandria, VA - max. dist. 2 hours (in Oct., not Sept)from NoVa...

TStephens - someplace in the south...

Nadenu - someplace in the south...

Debalic - NYC pref./max. dist - Boston/Philly

Natdatilgnome - someplace in the south/VA?

Xythex - someplace in the far north (Canada/NY?)

AngstyCoder - Midwest

Nadenu - Tennessee

ElneClare & Jonwin - Baltimore /max. dist. 1 hour from Baltimore

I'm in Tenn. I guess I'd be able to get to one of the 4,312 surrounding states, but that's about it. Got a little one to think about, and not many relatives willing to watch the tornado for long. Smiley: laugh

If it's this month, no more than an hours drive away. If some time in Oct I could push it up to 1hr 30 min, maybe 2 hours away.

But, I'm sure there are plenty of good places to go to in the DC/NOVA area.

Within 1 hour drive of Baltimore and I can get Jonwin to drive me. More then a hour if He's interested or it was his Idea. Put it next to a Civil War battlegound or Museum and then it becomes a Busman's Holiday.

Any excuse for a Guiness is reason enough for me.

to which Jonwin will say just meet him at work and go next door for one.

Right... his 'couch'. You will love how comfortable his 'couch' is after a night of drinking.

If we want to do something soon, how would, say, next Saturday or Sunday be? Would Smash be back by then? I didn't see if he said his exact dates of Kerry helpage.

It looks like our midpoint is in MD somewhere, or perhaps VA, since we have people everywhere from eastern VA to eastern MD, and from NC to NY. Columbia is still my fave choice, or someone mentioned a place in Gaithersburg that sounded interesting, either would be good.

I'm mainly really bored...

I think Smash mentioned he'd be up in New Hampshire for 2 weeks...

If not September, was thinking sometime in early October...but I can probably meet up in a week or two...gotta check with Mrs. Smoggy and see when it would work for her. 9/24 could be good - Smash may be back by then, too. Unless Yom Kippur is an issue...

I might drop by if its in DC or the Rockville/Gaithersburg area.

Not a major poster here, but I'll never turn down a good excuse to drink.

I don't post here much either, but this sounds like it could be fun. I work in Beltsville, MD and could meet anywhere in the Baltimore or DC area.

Now just to find a sober driver errr ummm I mean date.
