Bush vs KerryFollow

#1 Sep 03 2004 at 8:17 PM Rating: Decent
I dislike Bush. I think Kerry's OK. Unfortunately, I do feel that Bush is going to be able to pull this one out.

This would, of course, cause me to fall into a deep depression.

Although money doesn't buy happiness, it will buy some beer which would help me forget the results of the election.

Smash----10$ on the election, payable on paypal, I'll take Bush. What do you say?

Tax cut doesn't do much if you don't have a job.

Yeah, the tax cut didn't do much for those of us with real jobs either.

I am afraid Bush will win, but hope Kerry will, It really is good vs evil, those he think vs those who prefer slogans, those who dont care if soldiers die for a lie vs those who do. Research some of this before you spew that I am wrong, or well you can go the way of the Gbaji and type a bunch of crap I wont read in 100000 words or more and claim your more knowledgeable.

idc who dies for a lie. u guys should quit being ******** if they joined the millitary, theyd best be ready to die and go to war. and theyd better be loyal and fight their hardest too. they go to war over a "Lie", so what, all poloticians are crooked. what im saying is, you join the millitary to defend and fight for your country, right or wrong. if you dont like it dont join it because there havnt been any drafts latley except a possobility, smalllllllllllll posobility of using the reserve. but thats it. what our real worry should be is democrats. i dont want this country being run by **** ***** like hillary clinton. next thing we need is a communist country, belive me, p.c. is based on marxisim and ur god damn dumb enough to support kerry whom seems to go with these traitor "Democrats", you deserve to see america be sucked dry of prosperity and free speech. one things for sure, your free speech is gone, youll never see it because your all a bunch of ******* slaves. i may sound anarcho, but any one who encourages and develops p.c. is a ******* ****. and thats why im anti-kerry. cuz hes a democrat, and democrats are p.c.

Actually, Twiztid, this is a 'Smash would you like to put your money where your mouth is' thread. Or, more specifically, 'Dark Knight's beer money thread'.

Ummm...yeah, ok. Take a moment to consider that throughout history, no republic where all the wealth was concentrated upon a very select few has ever survived, before you go on an anti-communism rant.

Garrison-Keillor has some very interesting things to say about the state of the modern Republican party this week.

http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/979/

I like the last paragraph a lot: "Dante said that the hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who in time of crisis remain neutral, so I have spoken my piece, and thank you, dear reader. It’s a beautiful world, rain or shine, and there is more to life than winning."

Couldn't it be said that no civilization that ever did anything has ever survived?

Most countries today are fairly young, when taking into account the age of humanity...

Just about any civilization has had a major shift in its paradigm, it's pretty much inevitable.

As for Bush vs. Kerry... it all depends on if you want to be skinned from the head down or the feet up. Smiley: tongue

In the meaningless numbers department Newsweek has Bush with a 16 point lead over Kerry today. Ouch. That's gotta smart.

Yeah Bush nailed the convention. Arnie was impressive, Dubya acquitted himself really well. The others were rabid populists (George and Arnie played 'good cop' and left 'bad cop' to Zel, Dick, Laura etc.)

I think the gap will widen slightly more this week as the media hype kicks in. Maybe 15 points.

In the 90s the British Press portrayed Prime Minister John Major as being grey. Grey suit, shirt, tie, hair, skin. No personality, no charisma, no chutzpah. Kerry reminds me a lot of John Major.

I'm confident that when the dust settles down it will level back to 50/50 during October.

The question then is whether the Republican 'Kerry is a flip-flopping coward' campaign gets greater hold over the Democrat 'Bush is a draft-dodging warmonger' campaign.

This could go either way, and I'm not a betting man, but I think Kerry might just take it.

Sickening as it is, I think the biggest factor is the number of body-bags coming back from Iraq. US Casualties lose Bush votes.

Re: Totem & "16 points"

------------------
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5915140/site/newsweek/

Sept. 4 - Coming out of the Republican National Convention in New York, President George W. Bush now holds a 11-point lead over Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry (52 percent to 41 percent) in a three-way race, according to the latest NEWSWEEK poll.

The poll was taken over two nights, both before and after Bush’s acceptance speech. Respondents who were queried only on Friday, after Bush’s speech, gave the Republican a 16-point lead over Kerry.
-------------------
The poll internals can be found here: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040904/nysa058_1.html

377 Republicans to 303 Democrats nationally doesn't seem proportional to the national population, but that's one fellow's opinion.

This is what I get from those poll numbers: the bounce that is inevitably supposed to follow each party's convention is more indicative of people who are predisposed towards voting one way anyhow, but otherwise are by and large blase about politics. What makes this significant is the larger numbers Bush got compared to Kerry, which to me means that perhaps the base is more activated than the Democrats, even though they are more steamed about things.

Meh. What do I know? It's a crap opinion, but it keeps me busy.
