Clinton to have heart surgery.Follow

#27 Sep 03 2004 at 2:18 PM Rating: Default
Smashed,

All taxes are not re-distribution of wealth. For instance when a portion of my taxes go into paving a road that the public uses then I have paid for a service, that service being good roads and the ability to travel easily. When a politician introduces a tax that funds art that is not in the interest of this nation and the only ones benefiting from that tax are those that enjoy that specific type of art and the artist. When a portion of my taxes goes into defending this nation I have purchased protection from foreign and domestic threats, again a service we enjoy. But when a politician uses my taxes to fund someone elses healthcare that's not a service I enjoy being that I already pay for my own healthcare. Do you see the difference?

Didn't you say just yesterday that you wanted your taxes to go only to national defense?

And you know, Varruss, you just may benefit from things that don't appear to benefit you personally, immediately and directly.

Workforce re-education is paramount to our changing economy. We can't just continue paying high school drop-outs 20 dollars an hour to put bumpers on cars and trucks... The whole manual labor force needs to shift and that's going to take an investment in the good ol US of A. Any tax dollar that leads to someone having a job and supporting their family is a tax dollar well spent.

I can't see it Nobby.

It must be like one of those "magic eye" pictures where clear vision is actually a handicap.

So are you going to be the one to decide how I spend my money and then tell how it may not directly benefit me but it's benefiting someone?

And I do think that our taxes should only go to the defense of this country and the rights enumerated in the constitution. Roads are an intricate part of national defense fyi.

There are certain things we know to be beneficial to having a successful and healthy society and economy.

Sorry, I don't trust you to know what any of those things are.

It's sad to wish death on someone... At the very least you could show more respect for the office of President by extending dignity to him.

Umm... I could be confused as to what this is, but wouldn't being an isolationist mean you were more concerned about your government staying out of world politics. Would

I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for Bill. Was thinking of writing him a letter giving my best to him and the family.
