I'm kinda curious here. The general sense that I've gotten is that the name "Asylum" was the equivilent of winning Miss Congieniality in a beauty contest. It seems that everyone would prefer to have Out of Topic back as our name, but barring that, how does Hotel California strike you?

Based off the lyrics of the song where you can check in any time you like, but you can't ever leave and stabbing idiots with our steely knives seems apropos for this crowd.

So lemme hear your opinion on this matter. Roll call!

Nah, the name is fine.

It matches my custom title.

As is, oddly enough, Hotel California. Now, aside from the obvious copyright remifications, I must say I am all for it.

Smash, your name matches your personality. It will fit no matter where you go or what the forum is.

Given how many people "leave" only to show up again, I think Hotel California fits nicely.

Hotel California!

Totem, you got my vote.

Skeet proved not just any whiney ***** can do it. Totem proved not just any whiney ***** with over 10k posts can do it, and Jophiel proved that you don't have to be an overbearing liberal whiney ***** to do it.

But not for a lack of trying!

I vote no. "The Asylum" is pretty lame, but "Hotel California" just makes me think of late middle aged investment bankers trying to reclaim their youth.

I like Asylum or return to OOT - both preferable over Hotel California.

Hotel California, indeed!

Since we all know who is the teacher's pet around here, let's ignore that for the moment and just see what everybody has to say. Personally, I think Hotel California has a lot going for it, from the rampant devil, errr, I mean Kerry worship going on in here to the obvious relish with which we devour unsuspecting Sandbox tourists who unwittingly stumble into this place.

My version:

On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
Danalog saw a shimmering light
His head grew heavy, and his sight grew dim
He had to stop for the night
There Tare stood in the doorway
Twiztid heard the mission bell
And Moeb was thinking to himself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then Flea lit up a candle
And she showed Jophiel the way
There were voices down the corridor
SammyX thought she heard Katie say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place (background)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year
Any time of year (background)
You can find it here
You can find it here

Gbaji's mind is Tiffany twisted
He's got the Mercedes bends
Smash's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That he calls "friends"
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up Debalic
Please bring me my weed
Selfishman said
We haven't had that spirit here since 1969
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely Place
Such a lovely Place (background)
Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise
What a nice surprise (background)
Bring your alibies

Mirrors on the ceiling
Pink champagne on ice
And Varrus said
Tstephens, we all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the Alla's chambers
The board gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the Skeet
Last thing Yanari remembers
Nobby was running for the door
Aadynn had to find the passage back to the place Tricky was before
Relax said the nightman
Stok is programed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave...

(guitar riff)

That's the way is I see it...

Nah it's stupid, derivative, and obscure.

Now if you'd only preceded the lyrics with
Dling diddle dee da dee da dum da dee da deedle da da
Dling diddle dee da da da dling'
that would be the perfect post.

Oh, and I'd vote to stick with "Asylum".

Come on Draccy! Insert "Your vote doesn't count" here

no, it possibly does this time, totem hasn't used his parents money to brainwash me, as soon as dana or some admin start using their powers as admins to lock the thread, then i'll say it dosen't count, but seeing as the admins didn't call the vote they porbably won't cahnge no matter what the outcome it, so it probably dosen't count afterall.

There are some people who do not "get" the song Hotel California. Asylum at least lets you know that you are dealing with a bunch of crazies. It's also campy, like the Eagles' last song.

Totem, I am hurt that you did not include me in your remake.
