Well, one, the Kerry/Davis comparison is pretty much a contrived fantasy of the GOP. I can't really think of anything they have in common on that front.
Yah, I thought that as well when I first heard it, or at least considered the possibility. Still, it had much more of a ring of truth to it than not. Being that I'm from Jersey, I don't know the intricate details of Davis' economic policies...then again most Californians probably didn't either.
I think though, that Kerry and Davis are quite similar, as *most* Dems and Republicans do have distinct differences in their handling of economic policies (with certain exceptions, Bloomberg in NYC for example, whom I happen to like actually). Based on the certain stereotypical economic beliefs of the party, Kerry and Davis probably had quite a few similarities...like support of labor unions, I'd be willing to bet Davis was a big fan of them. Kerry is too. How about the "Living Wage" deal...wasn't Davis leaning toward implementing that sort of thing? I get the sense from Kerry he wouldn't exactly run away from the idea either.
While those are only two issues, and economic policy encompasses much more than them, I think those are the types of issues that say a lot about what else the person will support...and what kind of economic decisions they will make. Whether those specific issues are good or bad things are a debate for another post, all I'm trying to do is show how they (Kerry and Davis) could be made to look similar.
