Of the places i have been iwold like to go back to Malta and Dominica <near Antigua>, they where the friendliest of the many countries i have been too.

Of the places i haven't been i would like to see the States <Key west doesn't count IMHO> , Rome and Chile, i have worked with the Chilian Navy and they are wonderful people.

Mars would be a cool if slightly unrealistic target.

Since I had visited London and parts of England back in '84, I'd always wanted to go back and visit Scotland and Ireland to complete the UK. Also, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Italy, Greece and Egypt.

Oh, and though I was in Paris for one day (again, back in '84), I'd like to check out other parts of France...but I'd like to learn the language before going there. Too bad there isn't a Matrix-like system to "jack-in" and download different languages - "Whoah, I know Japanese!"

You know London and Paris are cities, not countries right? ^_^

I suppose my own order of preference would be Japan, America (Alaska or the Rockies in particular), China, then Ireland. Sounds to me like you should go do Poland since you have reason to do so.

I wasn't particularly impressed when I did Italy. Really the only thing it did for me was increase my hatred of corporate America, partcularly GM and the automobile industry.

Italy's public transportation infrastructure is fantastic. I could never figure out how to pay for any of the trains into Rome though, so I guess they were free. Really, I tried for the month I was there.

Yeah, but I figured I'd admit to hitting the tourist destinations in said countries than just say England and France.

I'm waiting on someone to give me 10k and two weeks paid vacation before I book my flight on Polskie Linie Lotnicze Airlines. Smiley: wink

Personally, I'd probably head straight to the Caymans. I've only been once for three days and enjoyed it immensely. I know it's not the most beautiful or sophisticated spot in the world, but I would be perfectly happy there for a couple of weeks of relaxation.

Not sure if you were referring to my post, but if you read my entire post (as uninteresting in its entirety, I'm sure), I think I mentioned the cities in their proper context to my comments.

I stated:

I'd like to see more of the states - particularly Alaska and Texas. Love travelling around Europe but somehow I always end up in Madrid. . . Any chance I get.

Never been to Russia/the old USSR states - would like to visit St Petersburg and Odessa particularly.

As for places I've been, Madrid has special associations for me, but Rome has to be on a par for sitting in a piazza with an ice-cold Perroni watching the babes go by. Hate Paris (full of bloody Parisians! Tch!) Dublin's slightly too cool for words and as someone stated here before I try to spend a few weekends a year in Rouen. Great food, great sightseeing and very obliging Madamoiselles.

And for those of you talking about visiting the UK, don't forget Wales. The south is pretty industrial but has some great beaches and scenery; the north has fabulous climbing, fishing and walking. Oh. . . and Seeeeexy sheep Smiley: wink

What would you like to see in Texas?

Two choices:

1) A trip to Isle of Skye and the rest of the Hebrides.

2) The TransSiberian Railroad...all the way to Vladivostok and Kamchatka!

With 10K and a month to burn, I would try to hit Ireland, Czech Republic, Egypt, and New Zealand. But since I don't have 10K, I'll settle for going to Prague for a few days next spring.

We just got back from Paris last weekend, and I would recommend it to anybody. They're underground system is pretty tight, and you can get just about anywhere within the city in less than 30 minutes.

Not sure if you are just being silly, but there are no tigers in Africa. Tigers live in Asia.

Casa Navarro in particular, but generally the whole Mexican historical sights. Those and some of the parks are supposed to be good; Pallo Duro Canyon and McKinney Falls.

Drac, I believe the name of that plaza in Havana is "Mate a los americanos decadentes" Square. It's located right next to the "Torture a vendedores ambulantes bourgeois" State Security building.

Presumably, he meant my post:

I've already done London and Paris, so I suppose the next stereotypical European country would be Spain, Germany or Italy
