Any of you watch much? I was on holiday so I caught bits and pieces during my afternoon siesta, albeit terrible Italian coverage.

Highlights for me were:

Kelly Holmes double over 800m and 1500m - very very impressive for a woman so plagued with bad luck over the years.

Kahn in the boxing who will kick *** at the next Olympics. A 17 year old putting up a good show against a 33 year old Cuban - unbeaten for 6 years - is impressive stuff.

And obviously the mens 4 by 100m yeeeeeehaaaaa! Take that yankee ********

Biggest disappointment was Paula Radcliffe - what a quitter.

All in all seemed like a good games. The Chinese are going to kick *** at the Beijing Olympics, you mark my words.

My highlight was the mens Marathon when the brazil* guy,who was in the lead, got blindsided by a protester, and still ended up with the Bronze. I wonder what blindsiding Brazilians has to do with protesting...

edited for stupidity thanks for the heads up

That protester guy is a ******* nutter. He tried the same at the Silverstone Grand Prix last year, nearly got himself killed when a car came past at 200 mph and spent 2 months in the slammer.

ps. it was a brazilian who he attacked, not that that brings any light on the matter

I'm generally not interested in sports but I did find myself tuning into some of the gymnastics competitions. Something that takes that much grace, strength, and agility is pretty amazing to watch.

13 year old girls prancing about in leotard's make you feel all tingly. Go on admit it.

I watched parts of it, awed at the impressive Softball team, dismayed at our bad attempt at playing basketball and enjoyed seeing us whoop butt on the rest of the world again. Of course we get whooped up on in the Winter Olympics but sheesh come on those sports are like cold and stuff.

TiVo was much more adamant about taping the Olympics than I have been about actually watching them.

I did decide one thing: Handball is about the most retarded Olympic sport ever, and synchronized swimming the most under-rated.

Handball should be immediately replaced by dodgeball.

Technically I guess that's two things, but the synchronized swimming was on right after the handball, and the epiphany regarding both occurred at the same moment in time. So, yeah.

Also Ninja Gaiden is the first game to captivate my attention for more than a thirty minute span in a long, long time.

Pretty much the same. I don't pay much attention to the Olympics, just make a token acknowledgement. Watched some platform diving one night at a bar (fucking bartender ignored me when I asked him to put on the Yankees game), listened to the softball team shut out everyone else, and the basketball team get humiliated. IIRC USA won 103 medals, 36 being gold, or something close to that. Great showing.

That was a close match too. Good stuff.

I was more interested in all of the US flubs this year like the men's and women's 4x100 in track, the men's basketball, and Stacy Dragila in the pole vault.

I completely agree. Host countries typically get a boost in medals.
