I passed Roger Ebert in a bathroom at U of Illinois once. (He's from Urbana originally, and has an annual film festival there).

We did that thing where you shift left and right to walk past someone, but the other person keeps shifting the same way.

Jesse James. (Of meramac caverns fame) is a distant uncle to me on my fathers side. My grandfather has pictures of him and his posse in an old wood covered bible in his bedroom. I was pretty shocked when I heard the tale about him.

There's a guy in my English class named Dave Matthews...does that count?
#9 Aug 26 2004 at 10:10 PM Rating: Decent
No.

Well no unless he picks up an acoustic guitar and starts playing satellite with some black dudes and a white bass playa.

Oh Carter Beauford is the definative drummer. If you were sitting next to him in your class I would pay five dollars just to touch you, hoping some of his radiance washed upon me in some glorious sexual experience.

I met Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in a hotel bar in Pensacola about 6 or 7 years ago.

That was pretty damn cool.

As for relations, my Grandmother claimed we were related to the late President Reagan. I take that with a grain of salt, she's crazy as hell.

My best friend slept with a girl named Brittney Spears. Of course, it wasn't the slutty superstar, but she was still slutty.

Hmmm, I sort of dated one of the great great grandsons of Herman Mudgett aka H.H. Holmes - America's first identified serial killer.

Other than than, I went to Hong Kong as a kid and met the Village People in the hotel I was staying in.

Not related to anyone famous that I know of, but when I was living in Nashville and tending bar, I waited on quite a few country stars like Conway Twitty, Garth Brooks, Winona and Naomi Judd, Reba, Vince Gill and Barbara Mandrell.

I met the members of Metallica, had VIP access to their Symphony Show in MSG, and went to the private after party after the show.

Man, those guys had some weird stuff there....

It was cool though to meet the man that got me into playing drums.

Now, if I could only meet Neil Peart. That would be cool.

Hmm.. my mother was delivered by the mother of Jeanni C. Riley, singer of Harper Valley PTA. Also on that note my grandmother won a competition and was suppossed to perform at the Grand ol Opry, my grandfather burned the tickets to keep her from going. He didnt want to lose her.

Hmmm...I worked in a large record store for 3 years and met many "famous" people through the wonder of backstage passes. Here are a few I can remember...

Alice Cooper
Britney Spears
Shania Twain
98 Degrees
Ben Harper
Jessica Simpson
Matchbox Twenty
Kiss (well, Gene Simmons anyway)

And as for relations, I shamefully admit that my cousin's uncle is Brett The Hitman Hart. So sad.

I lived in Napa, CA and worked in some rather nice restaurants. Also, I worked with one of the Grateful Dead's former accountants. I have met quite a few famous people, partied at their homes, even had one very famous actor get drunk enough in my living room to pass out and pee on my couch.

Those I have partied with include Lars Ulrich (I played his drums!), Jerry Garcia, Gwen Stefani (before she was famous) and Nick Cage.

I waited on Willie Mays and Willie McCovey once together for the afternoon and got them both to autograph a Giants cap for my father. I risked getting fired for that one and unprofessional as it might have been, will never regret it.

Robert Downey, Jr. walked in on me and his girlfriend's kids' baby sitter "enjoying" his hotel suite's whirlpool tub once.

Many cool stories. But I am related to absolutely no one famous, that I know of.

Distant relatives of mine own a glassworks shop somewhere in Bavaria, Germany. That's the only ancestry that I know of.

My sister met James Earl Jones and Rick Ocasic when she was a camp counselor for their children.

Ricky Horton (mediocre pitcher for the 80s Cardinals) is from my area, and I met his brother, Dave Horton (minor league ballplayer) when he came to my church.

A lot of celebrities live in my area (Hudson Valley region) though I never see em.
