To say that Russia has played no part in fighting terrorism is, sorry to say it, stupid. Speaking of a narrow minded view of one's own little world.
As for this:
Quote:
The feeling I've been getting from this board is that all the public announcements about possible terror strikes is politically motivated by a Bush administration who is doing this in their own self interests by increasing the fear among the populace. From that I conclude that each of you believe that the threat of terrorism is over and any further announcements of possible terrorism is a waste of time and energy.
Tell that to those 89 people who probably died today at the hands of terrorists.
I think the color coded terror alert status is politically motivated in large part, in that it plays to the cult of fear that supports the status quo. The fact that ordinary citizens are given no direction regarding what the different color codes mean to them, or what they should do differently based on those codes, tells me so.
Is the threat of terror over? No, and never again.
Is there any point in screaming "BE AFRAID!" in my face? No, unless of course there's an election coming up. Announcements of terror threats should be given to the people who can use them.
Edit: sorry, your math isn't off, I was reading earlier reports.
Looks like the data recorders were found for both flights, hopefully some answers will be forthcoming.
