Kerry the self-promoted war hero:

Quote:
A previously unnoticed passage in John Kerry's approved war biography, citing his own journals, appears to contradict the senator's claim he won his first Purple Heart as a result of an injury sustained under enemy fire.

John Kerry receving medal for Vietnam service.

Kerry, who served as commander of a Navy swift boat, has insisted he was wounded by enemy fire Dec. 2, 1968, when he and two other men took a smaller vessel, a Boston Whaler, on a patrol north of his base at Cam Ranh Bay.

But Douglas Brinkley's "Tour of Duty," for which Kerry supplied his journals and letters, indicates that as Kerry set out on a subsequent mission, he had not yet been under enemy fire

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

I don't really care about his war record. I don't think it's all that relevant. The fact that he served is relevant to me, however.

And if he's lying; What exactly DO you expect out of a politician? He's got a shyster lawyer for a running mate so it would fit right in with his campaign.

I'll probably vote for Bush; not because I support him, but because he appears to be the best of the poor-*** choices available to me and to not vote is simply avoiding the issue and abrogating my responsibility as a citizen.

So much attention to a politician who might not be telling the truth about something that happened over thirty years ago!

Dude, seriously, you need a life. We know you're a GOP sycophant but this is really lame.

Are you that moronic? Kerry mentions his 4 month service in Vietnam in just about every one of his speeches. He's made this, and continues to make this, an issue open for debate. So why shouldn't we research and get to the bottom of what really happened? I think it's funny that none of you are really contradicting the accusations i'm making you're merely attacking my credibility and the credibility of the source rather than the validity or falseness of the claim. Perhaps it's because you know Kerrys a pansy *** that cut and ran at the first possible action his ship might have been in.

This tends to say something along the lines of NO, we don't give a rat’s *** even if Kerry brings it up every other speech. I don't care if he says it, I don't care if his opponents discredit him on it. I don't GIVE A **** ABOUT VIETNAM SERVICE RECORDS. That was a war I don't believe we had any right to be in, but I sure as hell won't belittle the people who were in it, no matter how long they served (just like any other type of armed forces personnel. They deserve our respect no matter when, where, how, and why they served unless they did something so despicable that it deserves a court marshal or dishonorable discharge.)

And you were there? You were right along side of Kerry when this action took place? The people that were, their completely impartial and were right along side Kerry when said action took place?

Hmm, I wonder if we could any inconsistancies in bios about where he was born. If one said 10:30 and one said 11:00 it would be clear that he was never born.

Nice logic.

Well, well, lookie what just came over the wire:

Swift Boat Veteran for Truth leader claims Kerry was "not under fire" during rescue. Strangely, the guy won a Bronze Star for being under fire during the exact same conflict

WASHINGTON (AP) - Military records appear to contradict claims by a vocal critic of Sen. John Kerry that the Democratic presidential candidate lied about coming under gunfire during a mission in Vietnam, according to The Washington Post.
The newly obtained records of Larry Thurlow show that he, like Kerry, won a Bronze Star for the same engagement and that Thurlow's citation said he came under "constant small arms fire," the newspaper reported Thursday.

Now how many of their claims have been shot down? They should have called themselves "Swift Boat Veterans for Hire by the GOP"

Heh.. now Thurlow saying that his citation only mentions small arms fire because Kerry's did and that, if his Bronze Star has anything to do with coming under fire, he doesn't deserve it.

Not that he's handing in his Bronze Star or anything. And not that he's bothered to read his citation any time in the past 35 years, it would seem. Funny how it took a FOI request for Thurlow to suddenly start saying that maybe his Bronze Star citation is mistaken.

Edit: Further reading has Thorlow saying that he "lost" his citation over 20 years ago and that he hadn't read it in over 30 years. I guess it didn't mean all that much to him to never look at it, lose it and completely forget what it said you received a Bronze Star for. But he refused to let anyone else see the citation either because, for the sake of irony, he said people might try to discredit his service Smiley: rolleyes

He's still looking for Drudge reports to counter.

I've heard that Bush himself has no personal feelings against Kerry for his role in Vietnam; Bush claims that Kerry is a hero and served admirably. Whatever.

With the type of "dirty work" these guys do, I think Kerry will be president fo' sure.

Their doing more for his credability then Kerry himself did. Not that I give a **** about Vietnam service records. So to me, none of this matters. But it's just great to see the rats try and hold on to this sinking ship as long as they can.

Right. He aslo says that he never implied there was a link between Iraq and 9-11.

Does he wink exagerratedly when he says he thinks Kerry is a hero?

I agree lets get to the bottom of this controversy. ALL involved parties should release ALL their medical records from the time period in question.

What does Kerry's medical record have to do with small arms fire while rescuing Rassman? Kerry didn't claim to be shot in that encounter.

Go my cite yet?

What is being called into question is the truthfulness of a presidential candidate, especially whent he incumbent is being hammered by the media regarding possilbe lies. The liberal media are attacking the validity of their claims thereby undermining their efforts to undermine kerrys campaign with this book. The questions that beg to be answered directly involve the medals and purple hearts he received. Again kerry made this an issue all us good conservatives are doing is being naturally inquisitive by asking these questions. So why doesn't Kerry just release those medical records to prove these guys wrong and put this issue to rest. He won't because he knows they're telling the truth so it's easier to smear the swiftys than to actually release his records and let them speak for themselves.
