Omar Garcia Escobedo, 25, from Mexico, was buried by his family after it was believed he had drowned trying to swim the Rio Grande River to get into America.
A body was identified by photos after a Starr County investigator told the family the man had been carrying Escobedo's identification card. Two days after the burial Escobedo called home, saying "I couldn’t call earlier because they robbed me.."
Due to the mishap, the family is now saying that a temporary US residency and a work visa should be given to Escobedo. They also want the US to take back the body, and pay them the funeral costs.
Sorry for the ethnically charged title of post, but damn.
