Yup.

Apparently not swaying any votes to Bush and undecicdeds are still undecided.

The Nevada numbers and the VA numbers are the big surprises.

~shrug~ As I have said. It doesn't matter who wins, we end up losing in the long run. Lets hope if the democrats do win this year, that the republicans come back with a candidate who is worth something! I would have hoped that democrats had.

You realize apathy in udecided voters is a specific goal of the GOP, right?

True, but I will still vote for Bush until Kerry comes up with a reason why he isn't a bigger idiot than Bush. So far, I'm not seeing much. Of course we still have a few months that he can prove himself to me.

Here's how it works. You decide you don't want to vote for Bush. You haven't decided to vote for Kerry. The GOP spends $100,000,000 on smearing Kerry to the point where you start to think "well, surely some of it must be true..."

You don't vote.

Oh, I'll vote. I have voted on every election since I turned 18. I know my duties as an American citizen. Not even an idiot like Bush and Kerry will keep me from voting. I just hope Kerry show a little bit more intelligence then Bush. Just one more point Kerry. Thats all you need!

Yep, and I can compare the amount of alchohol they consumed during their time at Yale. College is only a place to waste alot of money on a piece of paper, and to drink yourself into a stupor.

What about apathy in decided non-voters?

I love being an obscurist.

This is a true measure of Smash's desperate hope that Cash & Kerry might possibly make it fairly close in the election: He is openly using polling data at this stage in the campaign when he should certainly know better.

Kerry's gonna lose in November for sure, if this is any indication. Pray harder, Smash, 'cuz it ain't gonna happen. Oh, that's right, you don't have anyone to pray to. I guess that puts you up **** Creek without a paddle-- because that's the only way your candidate are going to win...

...by a freaking miracle.

The problem with polls is sure Kerry is going to win if you poll 1000 democrats. Unfortunately, there are a couple billion people in the US who think Kerry and Bush are idiots. Now we just have to decide who is the biggest idiot and not vote for him. The only think thats close is deciding who is the bigger idiot. Kerry 48%, Bush 47%.

The big question is not what people think, but how they'll vote.

You know, those two should be the same thing, but I suspect they aren't.

Me thinks the lady doeth protest too much...

Anyway, I didn't really bother to look at Smash's link too closely but, yeah, about what Vic said. If half your polled people are in Texas and the other half in Mass. and you get about a 50/50 split, does that prove anything? The only real important states that even sort of matter for polling are the swing states.

Someone on the radio (that's all the cite I've got on this.. heh) was talking about the election and, despite his own pro-Bush stance, said what he thought was the truth based off the collected polling data: part of the reason we weren't seeing any real fluctuations or "bumps" was because most of the nation has already decided. For that matter, most of the urban swing vote is already decided. The only real undecided voters are the swing rural votes which is why you see both Kerry and Bush campaigning so hard in those areas -- last election this was a vote that Bush only claimed 6% of and Bush was going to have to seriously work to claim those votes (and the election) this year. Anyway, I don't have any of the numbers to back up what he was saying but it was interesting to listen to.

Smashed,

The point is the only people Kerry is attracting are the rabid Bush haters and people don't vote in numbers against someone, without an extreme event. In order for Kerry to win this election he has to give the 15% undecided a reason to vote for him. So far he's made a 4month stint approx 30yrs ago the focus of his resume for how he'll handle national defense, and that's being called into serious question. The fact is Bush will win handily because Kerry does not inspire people to achieve.

Kerry doesn't inspire anything from what I have seen. Well, except for a few good skits on the comedy shows. At least he isn't talking about a "lock box." Of course neither does Bush. Scary isn't it?

No, Jophiel, my only point is that for all the various valid arguments Smash may have for voting and stumping for Kerry he makes a thread on polling data-- something as amourphous as the dump I took this morning: it takes on a different shape depending on how hard I push. Any number of factors influence the man-on-the-street's opinion at any given moment, from did he get laid last night, what he had for breakfast, whether or not it's raining, to important issues like how his job is working out. And when he begins touting the virtues of a snapshot outlook as evidence of his candidate's impending supremacy in November it smacks of desperation and wishful thinking.

Lol, even I haven't stooped to such blatant tactics to bolster the confidence of the party faithful.
