He at least appears to be a seasoned veteran of the intelligence community.

Although, in this picture, he looks like he's asleep.

Nightmare. Absolute worst person for the job, I'm litterally stunned at how poor of a choice he is.

Carrot Top would be more effective than Porter Goss.

Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Porter Goss is a purely political appointment. He's a Cheny bootlicker of the absolute worst stripe and has publically pushed for *more* political controll over the intel services as opposed to less. He will defacto, and possibly dejure report directly to Cheney and Rove as opposed to acting outside of their influence and will drive intel to fit politics.

I can't imagine the Democrats in congress will let it happen, though. Probably just a fient by Bush to soften them up for whoever the real candidate is. There's been talk of him Replacing Tenet for months now, but no one took it too seriously.

Gos voted for the anti flag burning amanedment, voted to ban gay adoption, is a "Contract with America" signatore, voted for mandatory prayer in schools, etc etc.

He's John Ashcroft, but without the messiah complex.

They need to go inside the intel community to fill this post with a non partisan administrator who has some real world expertise.

Colin Powell or someone simmilarly moderate with a better background would make more sense.

How in the name of Goofy can anyone who read the 911 report think that a currently active member of the Republican or Democrat Party makes sense?

Everything we've learned from the reports into the abuse of intelligence, sloppy analysis and misreporting of key messages (both sides of the atlantic) says that there has to be clear water between the political administration and the statutory intelligence community. Blair interfered and look at his credibility now. Ditto Bush. It would be equally banale and outrageous if he'd chosen an active Democrat.

That's before asking how the guy who oversaw the CIA as chair of the intelligence committee when it left the back door open on the WTC is now somehow fit to sit in the Boss's chair.

Possibly the most misguided and cynical ploy I've seen yet.

I wonder what the 911 victims' families think that the guy who had his trousers down back then has been given a shiny new badge.

Haha. No, but he'd be a better choice.
