"He was a good kid, he just got with the wrong crowd," said Hunter's father, Dan Washington. "He never seemed to be that type ... that was violent."
Well, I guess beating six people to death with a baseball bat might clear that past tense verb up a bit. I'm sure now his father will appropriately describe him as a raging sociopath who could snap at any moment.
Just once, I'd like them to interview someone on TV and have them not go the way of "Oh, he always seemed so nice." I'd rather them give an account along the lines of "He had been stealing my newspaper for a year, and so I finally just cancelled it. He's in jail right? He broke in all my house windows, slashed my tires, fed my two dogs rat poison and then salted my garden. He told me if the newspaper didn't start showing up again he'd dismember me and bury me in his back yard. He showed me the hole. He said if I ever told anyone about any of this, I'd end up in the hole... what do you mean he's probably going to get off because of lack of evidence?"
