Get a load of this--Follow

Remember me mentioning my wife some months back where I said she has been suffering from a long term illness? She has been at home recuperating (on the mend, btw) and was expecting to go back to work at the end of this month. She got a call from her workplace asking her to come in for her yearly employee evaluation. When she arrived, she was ushered into the bosses' office and told her position had been eliminated and she was being let go. They then told her she was going to be given a severance package, handed her a box to put her things in, and sent out the door.

As background, she was the office manager when the company started nine years ago and has seen the place quintuple in size and business in the years to present day. She went without vacations or pay raises for the first four years with the understanding that when the company grew she'd get her reward then (and in fairness, they have compensated her well since then).

To make a long story shorter, it appears that the severance package is more hush money to keep her from making waves to the labor board than a gift for nine years of good solid work (not that she'd even ever consider doing something like that).

The upshot is, she isn't really upset or annoyed since her illness has made her reevaluate her priorities in life-- and work isn't very high up there now that the kids are gone out of the house and my income is more than enough for everything we have and do. I just think it was... interesting... how it all came about today.

Seriously, shame to hear about her job though, if she's content with the situation, then I guess that's that. Still slimy though.

Thanks, Jophiel. It's been a long row to hoe, what with it being three years since it became acute. In that period, she didn't take a single day sick and scheduled her doctor's appointments and treatments on her day's off or took a vacation day to cover her absence.

The truly good news is that she is slowly returning to the woman she was before all it came about. It has been very difficult for her since she comes from hardy farm stock and has been the picture of health prior to this illness.

And yet, by condemning him because of his posts, are you not refusing him forgiveness? Does this not go against the teachings of God/Allah/Budda/Other? Does not the sun rise in the East? Does not the Packers suck **********

They must confiscate your sense of humor when they beat that religious nonsense into your head or something. Lighten up.

From your tone of voice, I'm guessing that you do? Great. Tuck that little experience away for me. I have no intention, nor any desire, to see anybody filled with holes. Yet, the men and women who are in combat now are not cowards. They are risking their lives there for people like me, and for that I am grateful.

I, like many people, may not agree with the reason that the US is in the middle east, but while we have troops there, I will continue to support them in hopes that they will come back home safely.

Also, I'd appreciate it if you didn't shift your arguements around in your replies. Half the time you sound like a televangelist, the other half like a philosipher. Stick to one train of thought, or lay off the dope until you can think straight.

Besides, we have to spread the concentration of "idiot" evenly across the globe to prevent a shift in the gravitational field due to those aluminum foil hats you people wear.

Ok pal, you are ridiculous. You talk about God in your posts, you have Allah in your sig, and you make a comment like this: "If he truly found the error in his ways 99.9% yes i would forgive him."

Wow, Allah sure is lucky to have you on his side. So, your forgiveness is based upon someone else's realization of their errors? That's the most conditional love I have ever heard of.


God doesn't love everyone huh? Well, His Word says He does, although I wouldn't be surprised if the jury is still out on you......


God puts no one in hell, their sins do. Simple as that, cut and dry. I wish people would study the Word before they run their mouth.
