I have one beef, and it's the same one I've had from the get-go. They've obviously spent a lot of time and attention to making the game world look awesome. And it does.

But the player models look like cheap, plastic dolls!

Now really, just how different can it be from #1? Other than gussied-up graphics, I can't see how it'll be any different from resetting everyone's character from the present game and making everyone start from scratch. Gameplay can't be substantially different from what they already have, or else it'd be called DAoC, Planetscape, FFXI, or Lineage 2.

Actually, most of what I've read about gameplay is a lot different. They shamelessly swiped the combo attack thingie from FFXI where person A does this and person B does that and it makes a super-duper attack. Buffs are group only -- when you leave the group you're no longer buffed. Kiting has been done away with. Attacking a mob now "locks" it so no one else outside of your group can attack it. You can unlock it if you're dying, but doing so eliminates the mob's xp potential and any loot it had. Class structure is completely changed, etc.

From what I've heard, the devs wish they never called it EQ2 because it's going to be so different and already people are down on it because of how changed it is from Everquest.

I don't have a system to handle it so it's all academic for me anyhow.

Hmmm. It sounds like maybe they learned some tricks. It'd be nice to see for a change.

Count me in, too. Got 2 copies (one for me, one for my wife) pre-ordered at Gamestop.

Like Jophiel, our systems are not up to speed for EQ2 - so I've been in research mode for 2 new desktops. We're trying to keep each system at $2.5k or less if possible. I've looked at Gateway, Dell, Alienware and Ibuypower. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Here's a great link to what types of video cards to consider from the EQ2 Technical Help & Questions msg board - http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=tech_support&message.id=211

Is it just me or do the characters look like claymation figures? The dark elves look like blue smurfs too. I don't think I will be playing it. The first EQ left such a bad taste in my mouth after a year and a half of it.

I'm in too, Smash.

Oh, Yanari? In SWG, the graphics in the SS's look like plastic too, but in the game, they are incredible. So hopefully the same will hold true for EQ2.
