For every one intelligent FFXI-playing poster that comes along with even a slim chance of gaining a tiny bit of respect, 12 more shall follow to undermine their efforts and generally make morans out of themselves.
You can always tell the difference. The smart ones respond to insults with further, intelligent and - on occasion - witty insults. The rest fall back on AOL-speak and threats of violence. Nobody believes you anyway.

3. If they didn't know how to spell correctly, then why is that title spelt correctly, anyway, some do but they are usally idiots.

I think the biggest problem with the majority of FFXI players who act like this is because they have a "me first" kind of attitude towards these forums. They come on seeing others flaming others and think they will somehow gain respect by doing the same. Of course passing judgement on others because of a stereotyep is just as assinine too, i.e all FFXI players are stupid, angsty teenagers with raging hormones and no concept of the English language what so ever.
Of course to be better gain respect is to not post stupid **** in the first place (yeah I know I'm guilty of this too, I'm still new to the forums so I wouldn't know whats what until I've come into my own), and maybe then we could judge eachother by our actions for once, and if by some reason I get deemed unworthy, I'd like it to be because of something I did and not at someones misconceptions.
