Tell him that I'd like an 8-cut round with half mushrooms and half green peppers. Might as well throw in a half gallon of iced tea too.

In a big echo chamber. Who cares? Kerry doesn't need those votes, and couldn't get them even if Christ showed up at the convention and blew him on stage.

The liberal base is motivated, the undecideds in the swing states are all breaking for Kerry.

I'd say it's now at this point in time 70/30 Kerry over Bush.

I'm sorry if the "(" "?" ")" caused some confusion of my opinion of the right wing agenda.

Taxing the poor, while cutting taxes to the rich (yes, this includes dividends and inheritance) is more or less...

They don't raise the taxes on the poor, last time I checked... if they run out of taxes to cut on rich people, eventually they'll work their way down to the rest of us.

I still stand by my statement that the Right is composed of morans.

Very nice speech. I agree with Smash that Kerry is probably leading in polls right now, but don't forget that the DNC is still fresh in everyone's minds. A lot of people tend to forget about the other party when one party is having their convention. I'll make a prediction on election after the RNC.

As for Kerry....

I am really impressed with him. I watch these conventions kind of cynically. While his little video was playing I kept telling myself that they were obviously trying to make him look as good as possible, but still I found myself almost trusting this man. If anything I will say this about Kerry: I think he is very honest and has a lot of integrety. That's more than I can say for Bush.

Bush has less to gain and more to loose at the RNC. Most people litterally didn't know who Kerry was before tonight. Bush is a known quantity.

He has to preform perfectly not to loose ground assuming no big Kerry snafus between now and then.

To make the comparisons short here:

Bush 43 == Carter
Kerry == Reagan

Look up the 1980 election and preceding events and then tell me you don't see any sort of relation to current events.

I understand your political fervor smash, but geez. Everyday I log on to see you blindly admiring and praising a various member of the Left.

You have fawned over clinton, praised karry, hoorayed gay marriage. You were undoubtedly one of those people who defended Clinton when he lied under oath.

This as a whole has been loathesome enough, but then when the GOP has their shin dig in a few weeks you will log on each day to tell us how lackluster each of their speeches were.

If only I had half a dozen or so flunkies that loyal to me.

You have fawned over Bush, praised Cheney, decried gay marriage. You were undoubtedly one of those people who defended Bush when he lied during the State of the Union.

This as a whole has been loathesome enough, but then when the GOP has their shin dig in a few weeks you won't notice because you'll be too busy teaching children how to more effectively hit each other.

If only everyone on the Right was so vaccuous and uniformed.

Oh wait, they are.

I can see where taco is coming from though, smash strikes me as someone who has decided that they are a liberal, and no matter what the liberals do, he will defend it. If kreyy killed a baby on stage at his speech, smash wouldn't think "is it right to kill a baby?" he would think "what could i say is right about killing babies?", and defend kerrys decision to kill babies untill the end, simply because he's in the liberal party.

It must be comforting to dismiss what you don't understand.

Actually we went over that in the religious debate. Thats when he decided he didn't want to be my friend anymore :(

As for me I'm still on the fence I'm leaning heavily towards Kerry, but I wont make up my mind until I see the debates.

Not to be picky but...

Q: If they cut taxes on the rich and we keep spending more money, exactly where does the burden of debt end up?

A: All but those who received the tax cut (including the poor, but mostly the middle and lower middle class)

The message of Kerry's speach was exactly what I expected it to be:

I am not George W. Bush.

The empty cheering of the delegates was all that kept that speach from being half an hour of crickets chirping. Anyone who bought Kerry's speach, with its promises of raising taxes to everyone making over $200,000 a year, promises to not raise taxes on the middle class, promises to fully fund education & head start programs, promises to fully implement universal health care, is naive and has little understanding of economics and the way politics work.

Of course, seeing as the democratic party's power base is in uneducated, poor ghetto trash, it just might have worked.

Kerry Delivers a mouthfull of Sh*T

How can he infer Bush is a liar in one breath and then call on Bush to ease up on the political attacks, of truth I might add. Well Kerry is a liberal democrat so I guess it's ok to say whatever you like and not worry about the media running with it.

I think Smash does somewhat blindly defend the left, which is too bad because I think his opinions would carry more weight otherwise.

If anything, listening to Kerry's speech should show that there really aren't two distinct parties anymore. Kerry doesn't represent all of the traditionally Democratic ideals, nor, thankfully, does Bush represent all the Republican ideals.

I tend to see them both as individuals in their own right, with their own ideas and visions, whether right or wrong.

Something I see people criticize Kerry for often is his lack of vision, no new bold ideas. I don't understand that. Isn't repairing our nation and ties to other nations enough of a bold idea? Whether you add another deck to the Titanic doesn't matter if you don't steer clear of the iceberg.

Kerry's quote of Lincoln vibrated with me in regard to Bush. I don't want someone who thinks God is on HIS SIDE to be the leader of the most powerful military force on earth.

For those who don't care to look the reference up...

During the war, Lincoln overheard someone remark that he hoped "the Lord was on the Union's side." Lincoln responded with this sharp rebuke:

I am not at all concerned about that, for I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side.

You know what's ironic about this whole election? Most of the on the line voters and even a good portion of Bushes base, don't like either of the choices. Not many are going to vote for Bush or Kerry they are voting against the other persons opponent.

Kerry doesn't want to build another deck on the titanic. kerry wants to tax the successful people in this country in to oblivion and have the government pay for everything that the poor people need.

This is fundamental, pay attention.

Democratic policy demands that government be responsible for the welfare of those that they deem worthy (the poor, lazy and ingigent). It demands that those who should pay for this are those that can pay for it themselves. The best way to cover public services is to tax the wealthy to such an extent that their means no longer allow them to enjoy the level of success that they have attained.

Democrats abhor the wealthy. They abhor success. You can argue this, but looking at the arguments made by the democratic party, and their advocates, in any logical way leads to only one conclusion. Case in point, the dark cubby that the democratic party tries to keep John Edwards' back ground in. Bob forbid that we mention the words trial lawyer. Please, dear Bob, don't let people associate him with being the guy who bilks old ladies out of 30-50% of their court settlements on contigency.

After reading this like 5 times to make sure I understood it...

I actually agree on this one. That's why Kerry's message should be - Hey if you like how Bush has performed, by all means go vote for the guy. But if you want an alternative to (insert Bush blunder here), I'm the one who can fix it by (insert real plan to fix it here).

Shut the fuck up.

I don't blindly defend anything. I even posted a thread listing what I disagreed with Kerry about because of dumb fu
cks like you who apparently lack the ability to actually read posts rather than just have someone tell them what to think of someone.

The fact that my ideas mesh with many ideas of the Democratic Party is the reason I'm a Democrat, not the other way around.

What, in your tiny little mind, are the ideals of each party, praytell?

I tend to see them both as individuals in their own right, with their own ideas and visions, whether right or wrong.

Wow. That's an innovative thought, the two men are individuals. Vote for the man, not the party. Sometimes I weep when I realize it's morons like you who can't develop a philiosophy of life who elect Presidents.

That's a good reason to vote for someone. His faith. That should be top on anyones list of requirements for the leader of the free world.
