The empty cheering of the delegates was all that kept that speach from being half an hour of crickets chirping. Anyone who bought Kerry's speach, with its promises of raising taxes to everyone making over $200,000 a year, promises to not raise taxes on the middle class, promises to fully fund education & head start programs, promises to fully implement universal health care, is naive and has little understanding of economics and the way politics work.
Just watched the sound bites, huh. Should have watched the actual speech.
I think Smash does somewhat blindly defend the left, which is too bad because I think his opinions would carry more weight otherwise.
Shut the fuck up.
I don't blindly defend anything. I even posted a thread listing what I disagreed with Kerry about because of dumb fucks like you who apparently lack the ability to actually read posts rather than just have someone tell them what to think of someone.
The fact that my ideas mesh with many ideas of the Democratic Party is the reason I'm a Democrat, not the other way around.
If anything, listening to Kerry's speech should show that there really aren't two distinct parties anymore. Kerry doesn't represent all of the traditionally Democratic ideals, nor, thankfully, does Bush represent all the Republican ideals.
What, in your tiny little mind, are the ideals of each party, praytell?
I tend to see them both as individuals in their own right, with their own ideas and visions, whether right or wrong.
Wow. That's an innovative thought, the two men are individuals. Vote for the man, not the party. Sometimes I weep when I realize it's morons like you who can't develop a philiosophy of life who elect Presidents.
Something I see people criticize Kerry for often is his lack of vision, no new bold ideas. I don't understand that. Isn't repairing our nation and ties to other nations enough of a bold idea? Whether you add another deck to the Titanic doesn't matter if you don't steer clear of the iceberg.
Kerry's quote of Lincoln vibrated with me in regard to Bush. I don't want someone who thinks God is on HIS SIDE to be the leader of the most powerful military force on earth.
For those who don't care to look the reference up...
During the war, Lincoln overheard someone remark that he hoped "the Lord was on the Union's side." Lincoln responded with this sharp rebuke:
I am not at all concerned about that, for I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side.
That's a good reason to vote for someone. His faith. That should be top on anyones list of requirements for the leader of the free world.
