Typically, a good dose will turn a dog off on biting anything other thqan some grass...for about 15-20 minutes. Some dogs learn the lesson after one episode. Others are, well, less inclined to believe that it could happen to them again. So it does.
No lasting harm is caused, even if you get some in the mouth or eyes. It's far from pleasant, but that's the intended effect.
Personally, I've never dosed anything or anyone with pepper spray. I don't even have any. I've got a Drodz BB gun instead. If that should fail, there's always rock salt and the trusty 12 guage.
