I was reading this story and enjoying the read when I came to this statement:

I suddenly had a flashback to the Dave Chappelle show. There was a skit with racial drafting. Each race got to draft celebrities to claim. It was pretty amusing, escpecially when the Asians claimed the Wu Tang Clan.

But on a more serious note, why is it that anyone who is verifiably 1/16 or more black African descent can claim to be black? Anyone?

Cause it spoils all the white genes, of course. It like putting chocolate sauce in milk. If you don't put much in, its not very chocolatey, but its no longer pure milk. Or that's what those who worry about such things will tell you.

Anyone can claim to be black, you don't actually have to have any verifiable african ancestry to do so. In truth, since the origins of mankind have been traced to Africa, we're all black.
