The people in this thread who are coming out with the "You're a stupid MORON. Get off the drugs and get a life" type drivel will make terrible parents, and have a higher chance of having junkies for children as a result.
Telling someone not to do something is the worst way to dish out advice - particularly with kids, many of which go through rebellious stages and will do exactly the opposite of what they are told, especially if the thing they are told not to do is pleasurable.
It is especially bad advice if you haven't actually ever tried drugs. It is the equivalent of someone who can't drive telling a racing driver that they shouldn't drive fast because it is dangerous. The racing driver quite rightly will completely ignore you, since you don't know what the **** you are talking about. What the racing driver needs is advice on how to drive fast safely, since they have already decided to drive fast.
Example:
Bad advice about sex - Don't have sex until you are married
Good advice about sex - If you have are having sex, it is important that you make sure you protect yourself against unwanted pregnancy and STDs. Here are the things you can do to protect yourself...1), 2), 3)
So AH, here is some advice that you should listen to, some I had to learn the hard way - especially regarding the nasty habit, there is no need for you to.
How to reduce the risk of developing a nasty habit
1) Avoid taking drugs as part of a routine - for example every pay day, every weekend, always before you leave the house, always when you get home etc etc. Doing this is habit forming, and eventually you will start doing it without thinking about it. It is much better to take drugs irregularly.
2) If you are taking drugs often, every few months go completely without for a whole month, just to prove to yourself that you can. If this ever becomes impossible, seek professional help.
3) Avoid seeking out drugs, ideally do not have a regular dealer. It is much better to take drugs as the opportunity arises, which enforces point 1 above. Best of all is never buy your own batch of drugs. Just contribute if you share someone elses. Having your own drugs around at home is a bad thing.
4) With regular use, your tolerance will get higher, requiring higher doses to get the same effect - this is BAD NEWS. If you find yourself starting to take bigger and bigger doses, it is time to take a month or two off.
How to take drugs safely
1) Don't mix
2) Don't drive
3) Do it in a familiar place
4) Ideally have a friend who is sober nearby
5) Don't use needles
6) Try a very small amount first with a new batch...
7)...even better watch someone else try a small amount first with a new batch.
How to avoid prison
1) Avoid buying your own, share someone elses
2) If you do buy, avoid using the same dealer all the time
3) Never buy more than you would take yourself in a single night
4) Do not deal yourself
5) Avoid doing them in public places
