Solaris - If you saw this I don't need to go into further detail

The book was pretty horrible too.

Well, for me it was painful. I was literally sitting there at the end of the movie with my mouth hanging open saying "You've got to f'ucking be kidding me"

I felt more sorry for the bear than Haley Joel Osmond's character, or any of the people in the movie.

But that's just me. :)

"Contact" with Jodie Foster.

You sit through the whole thing to see the aliens at the end and it's her dad. What a rip off. And the chemistry between her and Matthew MacConehay (sp?) was as beleivable as watching a love scene with Eminem and Elton John.

Labyrinth as the worst movie ever made? Pshaw! That movie rocked! Maybe you are too young to appreciate it?

Worst movies ever made? Here's my list

Robocop 3 - why oh why did they make a third Robocop movie? Just bad, like rotten milk, just a waste.

Showgirls - This would have been tolerable had there actually been girl on girl action.

Point of No Return - go rent La Femme Nikita, so much better - this movie is like imitation vomit of the original.

Deep Star Six - the very first movie that ever made want to walk out from the theater. Formulaic man vs monster movie, and proof that the writers never paid attention in their 5th grade science classes.

Battlefield Earth - yaaaawwwwwnnnn.

That's about all I can think of right now.

The book was better but, come on, the begining with the starting from the outer solor sytem and zooming into earth was pretty nice. Worth the rest of the movie to me anyway.

A lot of US governmental agencies use macs for the less-virii and harder-to-hack factors.

No, they use them because the image processing software is better. Mac OS isn't particularly secure compared to XP or Linux.

A cameo is when an actor appears briefly in a side role with minimal impact on the story as a whole. The example I'm talking about was George Cluny's character. He shows up after the first battle and takes charge of the company and gives a rousing speach. He's then not seen at all in the rest of the film. This was one of the scenes shown in the preview for the film btw...

And John Cuzack's character? He is not present during the first part of the first battle at all (although Woody and Penn's characters are). He appears in a group of people, volunteers to help take out a pillbox, performs in what is the most enjoyable combat scene in the entire film, succeeds in his mission, and then is never seen again in the film.

There are at least 5 big name stars that do this exact sort of thing. They appear in one or two scenes, appear to have some important role to play in the plot of the film, and then are never seen again.

I guess the problem really is that there *is* no plot. The film kinda meanders aimlessly through a series of battles with no real purpose or message to make. So I guess having characters appear and disappear randomly just isn't that out of place. The handful of characters the film does focus on are easily the least interesting characters on the screen. The only vague hint of a theme in the film is presented by Penn's character. Um... But I forgot what it was. Something about the futility of war, or something.

What makes TRL such an absolute stinker is that it teases you with the promise of maybe being a good film If you just keep watching, maybe it'll finally take off . Each time you see a strong actor appear on screen and seem like he's going to be the "hero" or something, he just disappears. And every time you think the film will finally get to the point, it makes another sharp left turn and goes on to something new (and usually more boring then what you were looking at before). You literaly spend 3 hours waiting for the film to start, while watching scenes that look like they might lead up to something, but never do. It's *painful* to watch. You keep hoping that one of these leads will actually go somewhere, but they never do. Eventually, you just pray for the film to end so you can get on with your life. Um. But even that request is denied. For the last 45 minutes of the film, many of the scenes end with a slow fade out. But no! They're just teasing you. The movie didn't end. They just fade back into another horrible scene that you don't care about.

It's just that bad...

I'd seriously watch the Postman 10 times (and waterworld as well) before watching TRL again. There is simply no comparison. I'm reasonably sure that the Geneva convention is, as we speak, considering adding the film to its list of prohibited items under the category of "inhumane torture". Heck. I don't think the guys at Gitmo are even allowed to show the film to the detainees there.

Man, I thought gbaji only babbled on and on about important topics. Guess not.

Another crapfest would have to be "The Stand" by Stephen King. Man this movie is awful, and the craptitude is amplified by the fact that it is like 6 hours long.

JEEZ people what about the "Breakin" series or "Nell" now that one rocked..........not. Or even "Avengers" OMFG, Saen Connery is one of my all time favorite actors, but I had to bow my head and cry at that one. Of course I think "Grease" was cult classic, so who am I to judge taste in movies, LOL.

Movies based on Stephen King novels rarely do the book justice. Yes, the movie was bad, the book was great. This can be said about nearly all movies based on his novels. About the only exceptions are "The Shawshank Redemption", "Stand by Me", and "The Green Mile".

worst movie ever

Anything remotely close to fast and the furiuos, bring it on, or any other movie that ***** you im not racist) applies to minorities. The same minorities that listen and resPECT Jadakiss for songs like "Why?". I thought 20% of a voting population made me frown on my own country. This entire niche of media does... unfortunately applying to an *** load of people.

Nah. The Postman didn't come close to the level of suck at TRL. It at least had a coherent plot and didn't have mindnumbingly long scenes of waving fields of grain.

Oh. And major characters and actors didn't just randomly appear, spend 20 seconds on the screen, and then disappear, never to be seen again.

Now you've crossed the line. TRL cannot approach the absolute crapitude of the Postman. That movie was bad bad bad.

Thin Red Line is merely boring. Also, it has the redeeming quality of being very beautifully shot. You probably could never convince me to watch it again, but I would hang some printed frames of parts of the film on my wall.

I can't believe you people are bashing the Labyrinth ; ;

That movie was awesome. Second best children's movie I've ever seen (second only to Spirited Away).

You're all just hopelessly jaded.

I will say that I have never seen TRL. I saw that part where Woody blew his butt off, but figured if I hadn't seen it from the beginning I might not get it. Apparently I saved a couple hours of my life .

I have never understood why everybody includes the Postman and Waterworld in the worst movie ever polls. What exactly about these movies makes them so god awful? Other than they cost alot to make and didn't have the box office sucess expected of them?

My vote for worst movie ever still goes to Solaris. My wife rented it and made me sit through that whole piece of crap because she was sure it would "get good in a minute". I still shudder when I see it on the shelf at Blockbuster.
