On the use of the Sock PuppetFollow

#1 Jul 08 2004 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
It is a widely known fact that I hold some particularly entrenched positions on various issues relating to society, government and people with less intelligence than is required to function in life. It is also widely known that I don't typically give much of a f'uck about things that don't reach in to my home and effect my life. Even with these things being true, I consider myself to be a fairly tolerant person.

Yes, there are a handful of people who would disagree with that. ***** them.

That being said, the recent rise in sock puppetry is troubling to me. Troubling not because I really care what you rate yourself, not because of what you rate others, but in that there are that many people frequenting this board who are complete p'ussies.

There seems to have been a shift with the influx of Final Fantasy players. Prior to their resettling here in the OOT there were a great many posters who got and gave. They took the hits when necessary, and doled out when they could. Opinions were indeed like *** holes. everyone had them, and they all smelled like the 'Roo with a Cleveland Steamer on his chest.

Smiting that was done was justified. Katie was a *****. Totem was still white for Bob's sake. The onslaught of the FFXI poster has brought us d1ck and fart jokes a plenty where we were once fortunate enough to be limited to the queen. They brought us the world's largest collection of insipid, one-line posts (Of which poke the moogle was the best, which is saying something). They brought us hurt feeling, mental giants and enough special ed students to start our own school.

The kings of the short bus couldn't bear the duly earned constructive criticism, and have resorted to puppetry on a mass scale. They are blights on this forum, crimes against life and perfect poster children for the Campaign for the Legalization of Post Term Abortions.

Grow up a little bit. Have the seeds to take a hit if we decide you need it. Whiney ******* have a forum, made special by Illia. If you can't hack it here without resorting to puppetry, go use it. Until then, I shall leave you with a hearty f'uck you very much.

Because either
(A) They want to say stupid crap without risking their own reputation
(B) Giggle like little schoolgirls when people respond thinking "Teehee! They think my puppet is a real person!" when, in reality, most people are responding to the content and not the poster themselves (if that makes sense).

Well I guess there are many degrees of tolerance. However, these sub-human sock puppets are getting annoying. I agree, however, this whole "FFXI" lumping shit is just silly. I can name a few cubes of flesh butter who never played FFXI, that post here, suck, and should die from drowning by sewage. That being said, grow a sack all of you.

What you said makes sense, but the reasons you cited for these people making these things make no sense whatsoever. I mean, it's an internet forum. Who cares what people think of you?

I suspect it's because people get bored as hell reading about what celebrities suck *** and who has more toe jelly. Sockpuppets are born out of frustration, only to then give life to new frustration.

It's all very complicated. And retarded! Yay!

Why do people post manifestos on how the Karma system is the work of an evil elite ruling class at least once a week?

Maybe these sockpuppets are born out of terror and fear from looking at your ridiculously creepy avatar pic. Just a thought....

The odd thing is you say this like I was not including you in my diatribe. You are a prime example of Short Bus King syndrome.Smiley: wink

At any rate, you are correct. The fiery bags of doggy doo currently sitting on our doorstep only added to the steaming piles of doggy doo that were there before. However, the number has increased in an almost exponential manner since the influx of the FFXI refugees.

On the upside, I now feel like just as much of an American here as I do in real life. Enduring resettled refugees really makes me proud.

Bob, married and pregnant and all of a sudden you no longer bear any responsibility for dullsville? Post something, for Bob's sake. I know you have interesting things to talk about. you stop puking yet? Or has it not started?

if only life were that kind. work deadlines and health problems keep me offline nowadays. i've lurked a couple times but haven't had the energy to jump into the fray...feels like trying to jump into double-dutch with a sprained ankle, i just say fook it and shut the computer off.

and for the record, sock puppets are like bush..they suck. (was gonna say should be shot, but don't need the secret service at my door for making a comment in jest).

Mmmm.... sweet Tare karma.

More to the point, I think people get a bit uninspired to post anything "worthwhile" when it'll either get a bunch of "Die" and "GFY" responses from people who think that's all that you're supposed to be posting here. Or lost in the sea of Pubbie sockpuppets posting "OMG Kerry sucks and Bush is a hero!!!" to try and rile up the liberals.

I can certainly start posting threads that are about celebrities, god or the evil karma system. I could also pop a few in there about what online games I am playing and why they rule over every other one. I shall begin forthwith!

I never did any puking really. The baby has started to move which is kind of creepy. My belly is starting to stretch and get tight.

How's your little kiddie?

Creepy now, maybe. Just wait till it starts playing tom-toms with your bladder. Good times. Good times.

The Moe-lette is doing well. Today I get to go with him to get his first shots. That's gonna be a blast. Other than that, strong like bull. Out-growing his newborn clothes already, his aunt got him a Giants uniform, so we are watching the rest of the season in style. Were we still living near The City, Kruk and Kuip would say he was a gamer. :)

Here I am - almost 19 weeks along. I go for an ultrasound tomorrow and I'll post that pic too - so you can see how huge his dong is going to be. Smiley: wink2

Moebius, I am not sure why this phenomenon exists with FF players. I'll admit FF is the first MMORPG I have ever played and the game is full of little whiney teenage pussies. Despite this, I enjoy playing the game because most of the people that tend to stick with it are a bit more mature. On the other hand I am a 29 year old accountant heading off to grad school in the winter and I like to believe that everything I post is not total crap. I can take an insult as well as the next guy and find it rather amusing. In fact I don't belive I have received my fair share of insults on this board yet Smiley: disappointed.
On another note, I really enjoy the subject matter here as it makes my 10-12 hour work days a lot easier (number crunching doesn't really have its moments). But back to the original point, I really wish i knew why there are so many little ******* festering in the FF world.
