Kerry made the right move by picking Edwards. Edwards puts two more states into play for the Democrats and his youthfull appearance contasts well with Cheny's ill health and picks up women voters as well.

I'd say it's nearly impossible for Bush to win now. I can't think of a scenario where he has any shot.

Barring scandal, I agree. Not only is Bush out, but Edwards was a good choice.

Yeah. But will he make decisions as VP based on conversations with dead people? I've gotta admit that'll go over really well at state dinners!

Or is that another John Edwards?...

John Edwards would not have won the NC senate race if he had chosen to go for it. North and South Carolina will not vote democrat, if that is the two you are thinking.

The right choice would have been Bob Graham. He would have delivered Florida, as he is insanely popular there.

Smiley: laugh We should leave America's wang out of it entirely. Remember what happened last time? I'd not make such declarative statements about which way a state will go, you never know, except for Alaska, their 2 electoral votes are guaranteed Republican.

I think one will, actually. I don't think he would have won the Senate race, I think you make a mistake in assuming that carries over to the Presidential race.

I think Florida is locked up for the Democrats regardless.

Personally, I'd have preferred Bill Richardson to brin New Mexico and the Gitslayer vote, but I think Edwards locks up a couplr of battelground states, including Ohio where he has an unsussually large following.

He also brings in money from Trial Lawyers and brings in women voters.

Edwards is anti-big business do you really think that is going to help Kerry? He was a trial lawyer against big business and now the ticket is nothing about Special Interest.

Of course it will. These are Deomcratic voters we're talking about.

Remember this election isn't about changing people's minds, it's about TURNOUT.

Bush changes people's minds every day on his own.

I think you meant he brings in money from whale dung swilling, necrophiliactic, pedophiliatic, ambulance chasing, OJ Simpson defending scum of the earth and brings in women voters.

At least that's what I think you meant.

There are some bad examples, like your mentioning of OJ, but I don't think they are all bad. Some just do their job.

As a rule, trial lawyers are part of the problem, not part of the solution. Case in point? High medical fees for health care due to malpractice insurance. Higher prices for every form of consumer goods due to costly litigation for "bad" designs. Shall I go on?

Trial lawyers are the leaking pustule nestled between the gigantic cheeks of an unwashed yeti's a$$.

As opposed to the current occupant of the Oval Office, who makes decisions based on the voices in his head and then calls it God's Will.

Look, trial lawyers have a place in our legal society, but the political power of that group is huge. Don't kid yourself that having a trial lawyer as the Veep wouldn't be one step closer to nirvana for that particular special interest group. The money generated by fomenting large payouts by class action law suits (tobacco companies settlements, anyone?) create such an enormous imbalance, both economic and political, that having one prospectively in the Oval Office becomes a very real danger to society.

Am I overstating my case? I don't think so. It's not the End Times if Edwards makes it as president some day, but he is beholden to them, and when viewed through the lens of our current legal morass, having someone who has not proven he can distance himself from his brethren is troubling.

This is verbatim from this thread.

British vernacular for a person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible.

git n. Tricky one to define. What it doesn't mean is what The Waltons meant when they said it (as in "git outta here, John-Boy"). Git is technically an insult but has a twinge of jealousy to it. You'd call someone a git if they'd won the Readers' Digest Prize Draw, outsmarted you in a battle of wits or been named in Bill Gates' Last Will and Testament because of a spelling mistake. Like sod, it has a friendly tone to it. I'm told it derives from Arabic, where it describes a pregnant camel, of all things. I'm also told that it is a contraction of the word "illegitimate" - you be the judge.

To put it another way: I tended to have sh*t equipment because, well on a zek sever(EQ's PvP server), you lose a PvP battle they get to take an item, so I tended to be ticked off everyone else had better stuff than me (I lost as much as I won but the ****** would bag their stuff [You could only pick from what they didn't bag] before they died hense I didn't have much worth picking through) so killing a "git" was insult and praise in the same breath. An insult because I killed them even though they had better equipment and praise because he bloody well had better equipment.

I have several british friends who think its funny to try to confuse the stupid yank, I had picked up on much of their slang quickly.

He neglected to mention the other definition of git: An INS evading Mexican toting lawn cutting implements from the back of his Chevy Luv pickup.

Don't get ***-hurt, consider it a term of endearment if it makes you feel better. There are exactly three people on this board for whom I have more than a passing respect for and you aint one of them. Everyone else gets indiscriminate helpings of my ire from time to time. It's what makes me happy.
