Yale is a private college. They can admit people for any reason they want.

And. While his grades weren't outstanding, he *did* complete his coursework and recieve a degree. I don't see the issue here.

The implication wasn't that Bush shouldn't have been qualified to attend Yale. The implication was that without daddy's money, he would never have graduated. There is *zero* indication of that.

I'm confused. Kerry is bad because he's wealthy, but Bush's wealth is acceptable? By the way, it's whose, not who's.

Gbaji, we know there may be no factual evidence that has come to light yet that Bush didn't legitimately earn his grades in college, however, the fact that he sounds like a moron when he has to speak without the aid of a script (and even often WITH a script) makes many of us rather suspicious.

A big hurah for anyone that can tell me what qualifies kerry for the highest office in the land considering his net value was around 20k when he married theresa who is one of the wealthiest women in the country and can afford to finance his political aspirations

His family were millionaires muoltiple times over. It's not like he was hurting for cash if he needed it.

/shrug

The guy held down a C average (77% overall I think?). While not stellar, that's clearly "passing". Again. If he was paying people to let him pass, don't you think he'd have gotten higher grades for his money? The whole idea just smacks of silly conspiracy theories...

And yeah. He does sound like a moron when he's speaking. Did anyone else notice when that second guy got beheaded that the news carried a bit from him, and he pauses in the middle of the sentence? I'm 99% sure that he forgot the last name of the victim, realized it, then had to come up with a way to finish the sentence (hence the pause). My roomate and I laughed pretty hard about that one. Once you made the connection, it looked really obvious.

But public speaking isn't the only qualification that a president should have. So he's not good speaking on his feet. He has a hard time finding the right words for what he wants to say. Fine. That does not mean he's unqualified to be president. It doesn't even mean he's unintelligent. While I don't think this applies to George, I know lots of people who got poor grades in HS and College, and are not very good at public speaking, but are incredibly intelligent. At some point, you have to recognize rhetoric for what it is.

Same as implying that Kerry not having a personal forture prior to marrying into money (although wasn't Kerry's family wealthy just like Bush's?) is somehow a failing as well. None of that matters. What matters is the platforms they are promoting, and how you think they personally will fullfill those promises.

Where on earth do you get your information?. Perhaps he only had 20k in his wallet when her married her, is that what you mean?

I'll put it to this way: John Kerry's mother is named Rosemary Forbes. You know the Forbes' (no, not the magazine publisher), the family that owns half of New England?

Kerry was born rich, grew up rich and was rich when he married. Sorry blow your theory about Kerry's money grubbing, but people who come from money tend to marry people who come from money.

Edit: a little more to say...

Ok, if you want to have some fun with Kerry's wealth and family history, look up how the Forbes clan made their original fortune.
I know Kelyquayo might appreciate (or resent) it, based on his popular thread.

As for Varus, I guess you're left out of the fun, because this requires the very slightest bit of actual research. You probably won't find it in the Lazy Limbuagh Letter or whatever piece of garbage you use do your thinking for you.

What like this link:

Yup. Very interesting history. Kinda makes the Bush family backround look tame really.

Hmmm... Oil... Opium...

It's also very interesting that people talk about Bush's "rich" family getting him into Yale (and getting him his degree). Kerry's family has some pretty direct ties to Yale, including the founder of Skull and Bones.

Go figure.

I would have responded earlier but alas some people actually have to earn their pay.

Check out Msnbc's article "Kerry and cheap Aristocrat" issue April 7, 2004 it says:

Before he married Teresa Heinz, the heir to the food empire, Kerry had little more than his annual Senate salary of $133,600 and a trust fund valued at $50,000 to $100,000. When his mother died in 2002, he inherited trusts with $300,000 to $1.5 million in assets — a pittance compared to his wife’s estimated $500 million.

So I exagerated by saying he was worth 20g's which is actually debatable because what was he earning before he became a senator?

Once again the facts prevail.

The diffrence being the Forbes family did horrible things to exploit people for their own gain 100 years ago, and in the Bush family it's an ongoing affair.

There are some things best left unsaid.

As for Kerry I challenge anyone to show me what he was doing prior to his service to the public. And if you say vietnam please...you know he got his purple hearts, against the wishes of his superior officers, for scratches.
