What's your record?Follow

I worked a 23 hour day yesterday. It started in Columbia, SC at one warehouse, left there about 15 minutes after my normal work day, drove to Richmond, VA and worked in that warehouse until everything was done. Total time on the clock: 22 hours, 57 minutes. That's a personal record.

The main thing that sucks about pulling long shifts in my business is that the work environment is between -15 and -20 degrees.

Anyone else get stuck with long hours in 'bailout the boss' situations?

Right now im in nice cushy job where they wont allow you to work more than 8 hours a day :)

Longest day ive ever pulled was when i was a teenager 13 hours 5am to 6pm in a greasy spoon, temperature was 40 degrees celsius which is about 104F and thats outside the kitchen which only had 1 fan. Just one of those days where everything went wrong and was twice as hard. Of course the fact that i showed up to work at 5am from partying didnt help.

23 hours though would be insane, though if you had a thermos full of hot coffee it might get a little better, especially in the cold.

I don't HAVE to do the extra things I do at work. I choose to do them. I say 'no' if I don't want to. However, in my own little sado-masochistic manner, I take pride in doing more than the other guy.

I enjoy my job. I don't particularly enjoy it when I have to do things like I did yesterday, but it tends to be rewarding on payday. There have been consecutive weeks in the past where I racked up over 100 hours. And they wonder why I won't go on salary.....

On the plus side, if I ever get tired of the whole business, I have enough of a nestegg to get me by for quite a while until I land something else that suits me.

I bet your boss is more concerned about paying the overtime then thanking you for it... and if you didn't get any overtime your an idiot.

Never worked that many hours.

I'm salaried. Worked 38 of 48 hours on a weekend. 18 on Saturday, went home slept for 4 hours and showered, came back and worked another 20 on Sunday. No overtime for me: ( Guess that's what I get for being a humble civil servant.

The longest I have worked is 3 days straight without sleep. Whats my job? I'm in the freakin navy on a all male ship (frigate). Me and 3 other guys stayed up the entire time trying to fix a vital piece of equipment out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. But in the end we got to sleep as long as we wanted. After a day and a half of sleeping I was just fine.

I just love being in the navy.

I love being home half of the year every other year.

I love getting my mail 1 (or more) months late.

I love how the water storage tanks break and no one is allowed to shower for a couple weeks.

I hate sleeping.

I love training for something that has a 99.9999% chance of occuring.

I just love working for people that have no common sense at all.

I love busting my *** on a project only to have someone else take credit for my work.

I'd rather be at sea for months at a time than spend time at home with my family any day.

Navy full speed ahead my ***. I should of joined the air force.

Though when I was in a mobility unit I did pull some long hours and some tough days. Then I got stationed overseas and basically sat around playing cards and watching movies waiting for **** to break. That was cake.

I managed to squeeze 610 hours into a 31 day month last year, thats an average of 19 hours a day. the month after was a meer 530 hours in 30 days at a meer 17 and a half hours a day. That was during a 3 week work up and 6 week Operation Sea Training.

As the Military guys will tell you, doing squadron training exercises is a *****.
