I think you suggesting that police don't take every precaution in order to protect themselves from harm, or quite possibly death, in order to prevent hurting someones feelings or giving the impression of overkill is retarded. That being said, don't live with someone who sells drugs, even small time. That's just trouble waiting to happen.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people broke the sodomy laws regularly with nary a thought to the illegality of their actions. That's right, citizens took it upon themselves to decide a law was unreasonable and broke it willfully.

I didn't see anyone proclaiming to be innocent of any "crimes", and if you ask me, yeah I have had speeding tickets but I paid my fines and moved on. But you don't see people coming to the Asylum and saying hey everybody look at me I got arrested because my room mate is a small time drug dealer and my supplier. I have a court date on Dec 1 and now don't I look cool because the "man" has made me a victim of the drug war.

It's just that I'm reasonably certain that the cops formed SWAT units as a result of instances of finding themselves outgunned by the criminals, not the other way around...

As far as the OT goes, I'm pretty much in agreement with Mrens on this one. I strongly believe that drugs should be legalized. I also think it's ridiculous that we spend the amount of effort enforcing those silly laws that we do. However, that's an issue about the law, not those who enforce it. The fact is that drugs are illegal, and they knew it, and they chose to break the law anyway. We can argue all day about whether the laws are "right", but the fact is that they are the law right now. You can choose to break it. I have no problem with that. But then don't complain that it's unfair if/when you get caught.

Eh? So am I. So if they were a couple of poor black kids in the ghetto, and the cops had the exact same amount of information (presumed drug dealers), it would be ok to come in guns blazing, but since it's a couple of middle class white kids, it's overkill?

Do you have any idea how many drug busts end up in gunfights? It's not like the cops dress in their body armor for fun you know...

I think he'd prefer them to come in unannounced wearing aprons and holding platters of brownies and glasses of Mountain Dew. This new police tactic would involve stuffing the junkies with baked goods until they are too full to resist, thus preying on their munchies weakness. Of course City Hall may complain about increased flour and choclate chip expenditures, but the reduction in civil suits from police brutality accusations will more than offset the new ovens included in the capital budget.


We're talking about a minor drug bust here. We're not talking about Waco.
