They test to lower standards. Now Bush can use the lower standard tests in a speech about WMD.

Also, it'd be intresting to know if it was a binary delivery system or not. If not, you could have licked the inside of the shell and not been harmed. Sarin's good for about 8 hours after chemical combination. It's not something you'd synth and just put inside a shell.

It's also something you or I could litterally make in a bathtub.

Well. Sorry. I guess I thought you were saying that it doesn't count since it's conditional on whether or not it's harmful, which you didn't say, but I gathered you were against it being considered WMD. Also, since it's not something you'd synth, and put inside a shell why would it be there? My question about probable cause is, since it's a trace of a harmful substance, biochemical agent, etc. is it probable cause for saying "Iraq did have WMDs"?

Well, lots of reasons. You could have stored it somewhere you tested the agent, you could be testing for a byproduct that's there for some other arcane reason.

Look, I'm not saying it wasn't a chemical shell, I'm just saying it'd be intresting to know. If it was a binary delivery system with the two compunds that combine to make Sarin and HCL, fantastic. Were that the case, though, you'd think they'd be making a bigger deal out of it.

If they just tested it for HCL, which some tests do, well hell, I adjust the ph of my swimming pool with HCL.

I don't really know what to think about this. I mean the stuff was obviously old, and they say it was made for the IRAN war. However, weren't all of Iraq's weapons/etc. considered old by our standards? I'm not saying this is proof, but they had to have some kind of capability/capacity to make them. With all the stalling/delays/etc. in the inspections, it seems like they must have had something going on.

Oh sure. I'm not saying it's not genuine. I'm saying that news cycle for indicates it's porbably unlikely to be genuine.

I thoght there were WMD in Iraq before the war pretty much like everyone else.

From what I have heared from our sources, there was about 8 years of weather related corrosion on the shells. Initial lab tests did confirm the presence of cyclosarin, but they are waiting on one more chromatograph or something.

Cyclosarin is nasty stuff. Had they used one of those shells in that roadside bomb attack, given the way the shell mixes, let's just say it would have been a really, really bad thing. Even if the shell was bianary, a small amount of that stuff expands rapidly in gaseous form
