So, I'm listening to this online radio station out of Texas that I listen to a good deal, KHYI 95.3, I have no idea where it's located to be honest, other than it's in Texas.

Normally I ignore the local news stuff and trafic and whatnot, but today they're doing the traffic and something catches my attention.

And accident on the George Bush Highway.

Are you fucking kidding me? There's a highway named after a one term President who's still alive?

Are you people really that desperate? I mean I could understand the LBJ highway. Or even the Sam Houston bridge or something, but the Bush highway??

Cook County Hospital in Chicago (where ER is set) was recently renamed "John Stroger Hospital," after the CURRENTLY SERVING president of the Cook County Board.

Yeah, but that's Cook County. You can get a dog elected to the Cook County Board if you know the right people. It's almost as corrupt as boston for city/county politics.

Aren't most people who are governor serve a four year term? That's like.. a normal term -- nothing to consider special.

I would assume it has more to do with him having been govenor rather than president. You know those Texans.

Down here, you can't drive 20 miles without driving on/crossing a Martin Luther King Jr. Hwy/Blvd/Memorial Drive.

And I thought this was the south. Sheesh.

Really?

I can't think of anything named after a Massachussets Govenor. I mean every other school is JFK high, but Govenors?

We do have a nice statue of the most corrupt Irish politician in the history of the country who ran for mayor from Jail and won.

He's not Irish, though.

Black politicians that go to jail are a horrible disgrace to black people who can't find more suitable leaders.

Irish politicians who go to jail are lovable rogues!

Right! Of course!

On another note, naming things after JFK or MLK is alot different than naming things after GB or GWB.

GW Bush was governor of Texas for I believe 6-7 years before he stepped down to run for president. There is a Gorge Bush tollway for the north Dallas cities, not sure on which other cities have a GB highway, pretty sure Houston would have one. But the Naming of hwys after people is becoming quite common in Texas, atleast I have heard of Bush. But what I think is funny is the local generalization of any one not from Texas is not worth respect, but if they have political aspirations they are great Texans. Both Bushes are perfect examples of this, two yankees who move to Texas for politics.

On a side note I am surprised there was only one accident there with all the rain we have had this month most Texans have permantly water logged brains.

I try to stay away from Gorge Bush, it's like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.

There is no freeway dedicated to any Bush in Houston. The thing that is wrong with people in Texas, and all the states north to it, is that there are to many mexicans and no one knows wether to associate with the east or west coast.
To go in further on the mexican thing. Some little toen in Texas actually made a law that everyone in the town had to speak Spanish and only Spanish while at a cash register.

WTF? I thought this was America!

I know there is some Reagan crap somewhere here in California.

The international Terminal at LAX is named after Tom Bradley (Mayor of Los Angeles about 10 years ago). Go figure.
