USA TodayFollow

Just curious to see if I am the only person in this country that still actually reads the newspaper as opposed to reading online. Despite its shortcomings as a national newspaper, the USA Today often delivers well written, unbiased articles. Maybe its just me but it doesn't seem reading from a computer screen has the same effect.

*Edit forgot to finish that sentence.

No it fucking DOES NOT. It writes poorly written, often utterly devoid of fact articles which are immensly biased. USA Today makes the Weekly World News look well written.

The paper is nice, but I don't get a chance to read about today's news until tomorrow evening that way.

USA Today's got that sweet Bar Graph or Pie Chart on the front page! Yeah!

As for bias, I never really noticed any, but then I never read it for the political articles anyway.

It's the People Magazine of newspapers.

I think its my perspective then Smash. I live in LA and if you want to read a newspaper that falls under the depscription "It writes poorly written, often utterly devoid of fact articles which are immensly biased" pick up the LA Times.

You mkae a fair point, the LA Times is pretty light reading most times, but their heart's in the right place politically at least.

I always liked the Chicago Tribune but, around here, I'm comparing it to the Chicago Sun-Times which is only slightly less accurate than getting your news from a Dixie Riddle Cup.

The BBC does a failry good job of unbiasedly reporting US stories.

Of course because they didn't have a full front page done up as an American Flag, the right wing whackos will tell you they're liberal, but really they're not.

OMG yes. I read it on the weekends only because I can't get USA Today sat-sun. The Local section is total crap. Its like reading a bunch of editorials. National news articles aren't bad but they definately aren't good, I'd rather read the USAT national news. And most world news comes from the AP. If you've ever seen the sunday times its like the size of an encyclopedia set. I guess they are trying to promote recycling because I throw away about 90% of it.

The BBC's jounralists are not a talented as those at Skynews, they are probably the best i have come across.

Of course Americans would hate them since they show the other side of the story. /shrug.

I enjoy BBC every now and then. Although the reporting can seem very drab sometimes which only allows me to tolerate it for a short period of time.

Sitting back as a Canadian a lot of US news sources are kinda biased either left or right. Also definite American bias, i can say the same thing about Canadian media.

But i know talking to a lot of American tourist up here in Canada they are suprised by how different the news is, and what actually gets in the news.

I find it better to get my news from a variety of sources and trying to get a picture from how each side presents it.

I don't have a TV. Well, I do but it's not hooked up except to the DVD player.

TV news is always News Lite anyway. One minute spent talking about a story of national importance and five minutes talking about how New York Minute is doing at the box office. At least with the newspaper I can read the main news section and ignore the fluff sections.

Yeah I love MSNBC. It has that national approach to it without sounding like Dan Rather. I definately prefer it over CNN.

I think this is why I read the USA Today. It has a much more broad appeal, as it should being a national newspaper, so you get the jist of whats going on without excessive detail.
