You posted twice less than a minute apart and call that evidence? Give people time to read your post, man!

The pilot's name was McCool. That's a pretty cool last name.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. There's a bunch of people who couldn't name our president from two terms ago. Does that mean he did nothing as president? It's more of an indictment on an ignorant public to ignore those who give of their lives to better the rest of us.

Didn't you know your worth to humanity is determined solely by the ability of random people off the street to know your name?

From this, we may deduce that the Olsen Twins are more important to America than Enrico Fermi was.

Yeah, my first response would have been the Challenger explosion. That is a particularly strong memory, since it was my mom's birthday and we were all watching it on TV eating cake.

While I hold respect for them, me knowing thier names will won't help me in life in any aspect. I used to know all the presidents in grade school. I used to know the preamble, the Gettysburg address, and yes, the crew of the Columbia. But none of these things ever, ever came up in my life so they were forgotten. Besides, IMO the soldiers who, let's say died in Pearl Harbor or WWII period are higher heroes in my book.

I know all the prepositions in the English language, in alphabetical order. I know all the starting quarterbacks in the NFL in 1986. It means nothing.

Enrico Fermi was an italian born physicist. He was involved, heavily, in the first nuclear reactor which was built in America. He helped refine the fissionable materials used to make the first atomic bombs. He coined the phrase "neutrino" for the theoretical lightweight, uncharged, uncolored, yet momentum and energy carrying particle which escapes when particles collide. He made significant contributions to Astrophysics and revolutionary changes to solid state (or condensed matter) physics - the energy required to add an electron to a material is called the Fermi energy. The collective horde of free electrons in the metals is called the Fermi sea. Fundamental particles are classified as either fermions or bosons (after Bose, an Indian physicist - his descendants make the speakers) according to whether they have integer or non-integer spin.

This post was just a quick observation of the state of America.

"I don't know who you are or what you have done, but the guy on the news says I should feel bad. So I'm going to start a billion bleeding heart threads about you and proclaim what a tragedy it was that you blew up, then I will forget you completely a month later"

This mentality pisses me off, I’m pretty sure 10 years from now 50% of all Americans couldn’t tell you the significance of 9/11 not that I care, I sure as hell won’t give a flying **** in even less time, but don’t go around ******** about how tragic it is when you would have had no ******* clue it ever did happen if you didn’t hear it on the news.

To sum up, if you knew someone who died, go ahead and feel bad.
If you know someone who knew someone who died, feel bad.
But don't go around ******** and moaning because someone you have NEVER heard of before died.

Given that few people care about whatever you're pissing and moaning about, I'm not sure you're one to talk. Luckily, I don't really need your permission on who or what I'm allowed to feel bad about, otherwise I'd do nothing but cry about my roommate, landlord and how evil Catholics are taking over the country. Smiley: rolleyes

Oh, and the occassional hissy fit because someone posted a link to other content here.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.
