Not really ashamed of any of the music in my collection, though I do get strange looks from people who flip through my stuff.

Sabbath, Floyd, Zepp, Ramones, Clash, The Murphys, Bad Religion, Petty, The Doors, The Dead, Cash, Nelson, Jennings, Armstrong, GNR, RHCP, Bon Jovi, White/Rob Zombie, Rammstein, Blind Guardian, etc. The list goes on, just to damn lazy to look at what is in there right now.

Not ashamed of any of it though.

....Are you my clone?

And I was beginning to think no one else had ever fricken heard of Blind Guardian

Are you kidding me?

Everybody I know that reads Tolkien likes Guardian. Nightfall is perhaps my favorite album, but that is because I feckin love the Silmarillion.

You consider coldplay a guilty pleasure? How so? They are probably THE BEST band that is main stream that has come out in years.

The only people I could see you being ashamed of playing Coldplay around are those "shakin it like a salt shaker" in their ****** "pimped" Monte Carlo's.

Those people have no musical taste, and aren't worth your shame.

Everyone I know that reads Tolkein listen to everything but Guardian. They'll list all sorts of obscure bands, but never BG.

I've never heard of Blind Gaurdian but I'm a Tolkien freak, the Silmarillion is brilliant...I'll check them out.
Thank You

I have a Nelson cassette squirrelled away somewhere. I also have the soundtrack to Streets of Fire. I'm only a little guilty about that though, I have the movie on VHS, which would be more embarrassing if any of my friends had seen it.

Candy Dulfer:- Saxuality.

Most of my stuff is Hard Rock/Metal with a few curveballs thrown in like Texas 'White on Blonde' and REM 'Automatic for the people'

I am NEVER ashamed of the contents of my CD rack!

Anyone ever get to hear the short lived but highly talented 'Freak of Nature'?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't listen to that type of music at all. In reality I despise all of that "music" and consider it nothing more than the insignificant droning of half-wits. Coldplay is not as much a guilty pleasure, as the odd band out. Seeing as I listen to a lot of music like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Green Day, etc.

Oh god, I found this post so funny. You say the mainstream is a bunch of droning half wits, and then go on and list mainstream bands! Nirvana and Green Day are even more full of droning and whining than the average mainstream band, Pearl Jam is more commercialized than almost any current mainstream band, with a few exceptions.

Alice in Chains is the odd man out of that group, as they actually have some good music. Shame that the singer OD'ed, and thank god the band didn't try and turn it into a press gimmick like Nirvana did with Cobain and his idiocy.

You can't really say that about Pearl Jam. They've been one of the most vigilant bands in railing against the industry. They lost a good deal of popularity in the prime of their career by adjusting their tour shows to avoid Ticketmaster, who they took to court.

They realized the fan desire for quality bootlegs of concerts, so they released fully mastered "bootleg" versions of every single concert over two tours.

They've also been involved in a great deal of charity work and social activism, and have always been relatively shy of fame.

They were constructed by a record company to be "Nirvana 2" though after what's his name from Mother Love Bone died.

Yeah, but after the first two albums they pretty much broke free of this.

(not that the second album ("Vs.") wasn't great)

Yup, I agree. They have migrated from commercial to not once they had some money and influence, in fact they probably did, but to begin with they were what passed for "pop" in the 90's.

I have that Zebra album. It's the best album that Led Zep never made (it sounds so close to Led...).

I also have a Skid Row CD and a couple of Aerosmith Cd's I never listen to.

Whenever people come over they're always amazed at the number of sad ******* early/mid 90's music that I have... I don't feel guilty about that though.

The ticketmaster deal was a press gimmick. Lots of bands do them. It's called controversy. It sells.

Fully mastered bootlegs? That's called a Live CD, bands have been doing them for a while. It's all commercial.

You want to look at a real band, look at The Grateful Dead. They set up a tent near the stage for bootleggers to come in and make recording.

Charity work and social activism... Now, would they do that if they're not in the public spotlight? No.

I take it back. Pearl Jam is even more commercialized than I said. I never said they weren't good, but you can't say they're not commercialized.
#50 Jun 19 2004 at 9:06 PM Rating: Default
Listen,

50 some odd "mastered" cds is a lot of work any way you wanna cut it, bud, especially knowing that the sales weren't all that great if you figure in the amount of work it took.

I guess in your equation, any band that can play at a big venue is commercialized. So yeah, I guess Pearl Jam is commercialized.

But they really do try and please their fans. They tried so hard they pissed me off really really bad. They played catalogued shows, ie night 1 is cd1 and cd2, night 2 is cd3 and cd4 etc. I got the tail end, and I don't really like new pearl jam. I was ********

What on earth are you talking about?

What other bands went before congress trying to take on Ticketmaster in an anti-trust case?

And it didn't "sell," since they lost out on several years of big stadium revenue.

You're crazy...
