You'd do her. Of course then she'd be out of that skirt.

I picked my handle out of thin air. First thing that popped into my head that didn't resemble anything Skeet would associate with me, since I didn't want him to know I posted here. I liked the combination of weak and powerful connotations.

Huh.

And all this time I'd thought that was your barrio name-- something that was coined when you popped a nine in the head of a rival gang member whose name was Git or Gato or something.

I feel deflatedly disappointed.

British vernacular for a person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible.

git n. Tricky one to define. What it doesn't mean is what The Waltons meant when they said it (as in "git outta here, John-Boy"). Git is technically an insult but has a twinge of jealousy to it. You'd call someone a git if they'd won the Readers' Digest Prize Draw, outsmarted you in a battle of wits or been named in Bill Gates' Last Will and Testament because of a spelling mistake. Like sod, it has a friendly tone to it. I'm told it derives from Arabic, where it describes a pregnant camel, of all things. I'm also told that it is a contraction of the word "illegitimate" - you be the judge.

To put it another way: I tended to have **** equipment because, well on a zek sever, you lose a PvP battle they get to take an item, so I tended to be ticked off everyone else had better stuff than me (I lost as much as I won but the ****** would bag their stuff [You could only pick from what they wore] before they died hense I didn't have much worth picking through) so killing a "git" was insult and praise in the same breath. An insult because I killed them even though they had better equipment and praise because he bloody well had better equipment.

I have several british friends who think its funny to try to confuse the stupid yank, I had picked up on much of their slang quickly.

Nexa = a name of a secondary character in a short story by Ann McCaffery. It is also the name of my parakeet. When I was 12, it was the closest I could come to having a dragon. Well, conures and mccaws were too expensive. Umm, anyway...

It's from an Edgar Rice Burroughs story about Mars.

My older brother, and one of my better friends went to school in Colombia SC. There is a restaurant there named Taco Cid's. It is a really crappy mexican restaurant. The "Cid" in the sign actually looks like an undertaker which is not such an unfitting thing consideringthe food.

I decided I liked the way Tacosid looked more than Tacocid so I changed the lettering when I made my EQ character. I had no idea I would still be using that handle 5 years later.

Tacosid

The Gentlemen Patricians was a drinking society I was a member of at Cambridge. Similar to a frat society. The name fits with my snooty English persona.

I was meditating in a shamanistic trance and my soul was glyding through the 14th level of the Aythers, when I came upon 4 watch towers, there the angel Uriel himself, made his presence known to me, and amongst visions of iridescent cystal pyramids and burning mountain ranges falling from the sky, he sneezed on some rough motes from the Kether, and I thought the noise this angels sneeze made sounded cool, so now that's my name.

although he told me to spell it Ceilbhiecuoio... but I told him he was a strange angel and no one would ever bother to pronounce that, 0_o

There are many many such societies at Cambridge - at least one society for each college for boys and one for girls. Then there are University wide societies. They are a joy actually - they are on smaller scale to a Frat club - usually 20 members at any time. Boys and girls societies throw cocktail parties throughout the year and meet up for "outings" at which you are almost guaranteed to get laid.

As far as I am aware, the Rhadegund Scoiety does not exist anymore, unless it is highly secretive. Some societies are since they may have been banned by University authorities - the behaviour can be pretty outrageous. Competitively outrageous.

My name's based off of my D&D character, a half-(emerald)dragon dragoon. When I started playing FFXI, I planned on being a dragoon. Figured I'd just keep the name.

We have pretty much the same thing at Harvard. Yale has them too, Princeton has "eating socities" but mainly they all involve drinking and feeling part of a select group. The "secret society" I joined at Harvard was mostly engaged at keeping underaged drinking secret.
