Just like any society, group, religion, culture, there are those who will make a bad name for others. See my previous post where I said just because SOME americans torture doesnt mean all are bad, and just becasue some terrorists cut peoples heads off doesnt make all Iraqis bad. Just because some Mormons are idiots doesnt make them all idiots. I am one of the last people you should ask to be a model for Mormons. I make choices that arent in harmony with their teachings. However, you will never meet a kinder, more caring people anywhere.

And at the local high school booster club slave auction? You get kids by the dozen from a single family to do your yard work. It's cheaper that way.

Do Mormons still believe that Black folks can't go to heaven?

They have never believed that. THere is actually a manifesto put out by the leaders of the church to this effect circa 1978.

Damn your politeness, you Mormons! :)

Mormons are the strangest folk.

I cannot understand why a pair of Guys from America, come to little ole England, to my lil hamlet just to tell me about their religion.

I spent a while listening to them, I was young and wanted to listen, I was amazed they had come 3000 miles just to spread their faith.

Its a clever way of doing it but my goodness, I wonder how many doors are slammed in their faces, how many times folks set dogs on them etc. Is it even safe?

Anyone here gone door to door for their religion?

Most religions are useful morality guides.

If more people paid attention to their faiths, Im sure our cultures morality would be far better than is today.

But then again, would it be as much fun?

Awww spawn, I was only being smiley. Yes I believe immorality does eventually lead to unhappiness.

I just wasnt trying to get too deep and serious. Keeping the level of conversation the same whilst making a serious point!

Sorry.

Nah thats cool.....If you read my post above I am really not the best person to ask these questions to. While I love the religion what it teaches and what it stands for, I am a sad example to follow. I really wanted to keep this thread light hearted. To tell you the truth many of the stereotypes about mormons are funny because to a certain degree they are trueSmiley: grin

My aunt, uncle and their kids are Mormons. They are some the coolest, nicest people I've ever met. They have never once tried to force their religion on me and I leave my non-religion at the door when I see them. It works.

Except once when I went to my cousin's wedding and had to drink Kool-Aid all night. I almost killed myself.
