What Guy is gonna get it cut off and get a boob job that they will have to keep at least 4 years prior and probably for life after if they were not intending the change going on in the first place, hence taking the hormones. What sorry person would want to look like a guy with a boob job just so they can get a free souvener from a sporting contest. Especially soince they would be on world news coverage and under great scrutiny if they looked like a guy.
I am not saying that someone who doesnt already want to have a sex change is going to go out and get one so they can cheat at the olympics. However clearly there are postop transexuals who want to compete or I doubt the IOC would have made a determination about it.
Exactly my point Yan, atheletes take steriods a hormone that they know could very possible do irrepairable damage to their bodies in order to win. I dont think it is really outside the realm this is going to happen for an athelete to not take something with no negative side affects that will give them an advantage.

That's a common misconception. Gender refers to your concept of self as defined by male/female societal and cultural norms. Sex is what your naughty bits make you. You can be female-gendered and of a male sex. Sex and gender are both malleable, although gender is usually suspected by the transgendered from early on.
Flea, I was refering more to a person's bodily make up. Men are inherently stronger faster bigger than women getting your package hacked off and a couple of implants put in your chest does not change this no matter what your state of mind is. I know that hormones can do amazing things to help change this however my point from the begining is that these atheletes could easily not take the hormones, thus leaving someone essentially with a man's body competeing against women. Personally I cant believe the female atheletes are not up at arms about this. I know if I were a world class female athelete I would be pissed right about now.
Under a proposal approved by the IOC executive board, athletes who have undergone sex-change surgery will be eligible for the Olympics if their new gender has been legally recognized and they have gone through a minimum two-year period of postoperative hormone therapy.
I hope this doesnt spread to the other sports...

Some people compete honorably. Some people cheat. Their gender; past, present or future has no bearing on it.
As to Donuil's comment hoping this doesn't spread to other sports: The horse has already bolted from the barn.
Men and women are equal. They should compete against one another no matter what the competition.

I pointed this out to him over and over Donuil, apparently he can't read or is one of those tin foil hat types. After all their legally recognized new gender and minimum of two-year period of postoperative hormone therapy can somehow be faked.

All traits rooted in the physical refer to dsex rather than gender. I agree with you to a point, but I don't think it will become an insurmountable issue that will ruin any sports. Physical aptitude doesn't always make up for grace, endurance, or heart.
