Because if people like me didn't talk about and the average person didn't know how many had died, it wouldn't be a big deal when this ******* guesses wrong:

WASHINGTON (AP) Asked how many American troops have died in Iraq, the Pentagon's No. 2 civilian estimated Thursday the total was about 500 more than 200 soldiers short.

Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz was asked about the toll at a hearing of a House Appropriations subcommittee. ''It's approximately 500, of which I can get the exact numbers approximately 350 are combat deaths,'' he responded

Opps.

You're only the ******* Deputy Secratery of Defense, ******** Time to be able to report within 100 how many men have died because of your unilateral wet dream of invading Iraq.

In other news Colin Powell who was also at the hearing was heard to muter "*****, please." after Wolfowitz spoke.

Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

I agree that would be a handy fact for him to have memorized, thus acting as though it were important to him.

Am I the only one who is utterly flummoxed by the syntax of that sentence?

Well, they won't learn the count by watching Nightline off a Sinclair owned station:

Quote:
Sinclair Broadcast Group has ordered its seven ABC stations not to broadcast Friday's "Nightline" that will air the names and photographs of the more than 500 U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war.

In a statement online, the Sinclair group said the "Nightline" program "appears to be motivated by a political agenda designed to undermine the efforts of the United States in Iraq."
[...]
According to campaign finance records, four of Sinclair's top executives each have given the maximum campaign contribution of $2,000 to the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign.

The executives have not given any donations to the campaign of Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee, the records showed.

Insert a comma after "500" and it'll make more sense.

Well shucks, thanks. I spend alot of time posting on the university message boards during the school year, but I've still been following this one. Now though, all the students are leaving for the summer so those boards go pretty quiet. You'll probably be stuck with me for a few months at least (except when I decide to go play outside).

I hope your boy has had a good school year (kindergarden or first grade this year?).

P.S. Yes, I really am here to just pull all posts off topic, haha.

Just a thought. Did you know that more British troops were killed by American "freindly" fire than by Iraqy troops? The fact that we have a name for soldiers getting killed by their allies is scary enough!!

To prove you can count?

On a less serious note, maybe people would be more interested if you counted the dead off in the Count from Sesame Street's voice.

I don't relish in soldiers dying
