Okay, I'm HOPING this was just a very poor attempt at humor...
Let's head back to grade school for a moment and relearn a simple little rhyme. Repeat after me:
I before E,
Except after C,
Or when sounding like A,
As in neighbor and weigh.
That would mean peices is actually spelled pieces.
And yes, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming that the btu (but) at the beginning of your post was just a keystroke oversight.
Also, grammar and spelling are not inter-related. You can understand one without being proficient in the other. Much like you can be a chemist without having a degree in microbiology, they're just two subjects that happen to lie in the same general field.
